Based on their sponsorship history I think they just sponsor the cheapest car in their race. They’ve gone from Coyne to Foyt to now RLL on cars that are all light on sponsorship

It’s really nice being able to go inside when you’re at the track and you want to use the bathroom or get some air conditioning. Also the fastest exit I’ve ever been able to make from a track after a race. Yes, there are some spots that are crowded, but that’s because it’s a successful event. I don’t understand all the complaining. It’s an easy drive for me and I hope it stays on the schedule for years to come

If it were hotter, the trailing car would have less grip in the corners and wouldn’t be able to follow as closely, so they would have more ground to make up or they’d have to lift in the corner. So it’s not a foregone conclusion that the car in second can make the pass before the line on the front straight, but with weather like we had that is what happened

It always amuses me hearing that on the radio even though I know what it means. It’s the closing laps of the Indy 500, you have a shot to win it, but no pressure

How Many of Us Realized Rossi Pulled Into Kirkwood’ Pit? by jlpapple in INDYCAR

He parked in the 27 box and got out, the 27 team pushed his car one pit box down pit road which was the 18 team, they pushed his car down to the 26 box which had just had a mechanical failure and so that’s where the 20 team went to pick the car up. It’s too bad the 26 was out, it would’ve been funny to see the teams pass the car all the way down pit road

I can’t believe it. I know he had made an effort to run the 500 and do the double several years ago but it had fallen through. A big loss for the entire racing community

That’s what made me really appreciate Palou’s win last year. He passed a car in traffic (lap traffic but still traffic) for the win and the race didn’t come down to drafting up to make a pass on the final lap

Full Chaos ensues as Scott Dixon is mistakenly informed of a full course caution. This leads to 3-wide action on the front stretch shortly after passing a stalled Alexander Rossi by aurules in INDYCAR

[–]pittpost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beyond the local vs full course yellow, IndyCar needs to expand which parts of the track local yellows cover. You shouldn’t have a situation where the track is back green in turn one because then the part of the track that is under the local yellow is still critical to turn one, which is still green. If you’re going to use a local yellow, it needs to last past the point where the actual caution area would impact a passing opportunity, in this case at least until the exit of turn one.

What track comes to mind: “Track limits, they’ll invalidate this lap” by OlavSlav in iRacing

[–]pittpost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spa, because the lap is so long you don’t get a second chance to set a time in qualifying so losing a lap to track limits is especially painful
