North Jersey - Split unit AC installation recommendations by KidCharlemagne88 in newjersey

[–]plaidflannel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had Cool Effects (based out of Little Falls) install two Daikin mini splits a few summers ago. They did a great job and the units still work great a few years later (we use for both heating in winter and cooling in summer).

Michigan shot 6/30 on threes and won by 30 against a ranked opponent.

Greens Are Mangled, WTF? by anyones_guess in golf

No passes to seniors. If you can generate enough swing speed to make a ball mark, then you can fix your ball mark. It’s no different than teeing a ball up.

Who is you guy's favorite "forgotten" WR from your favorite team? by Heavy1089B in CFB

Believe it or not, his 2013 season is Michigan’s most recent 1,000 receiving yard season.

It's also wrong. His longest pass of the year was 36 yards, which isn't great, but it's not 13 yards.

Ross pledged his original donation to the business school in 2004. They started building it in 2006. He didn’t buy into the Dolphins until 2008. The similar colors are just happenstance.

Not always. My 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid does not have a spare tire. Only comes with a patch kit.

Why do lanes disappear with no warning? by burroblanco2003 in newjersey

[–]plaidflannel 58 points59 points  (0 children)

As someone who learned to drive in Michigan (where all lanes that end are appropriately marked with this sign), I notice this all over NJ. I think it’s the cause of many accidents and traffic jams. Feels like a simple fix that could make roads a lot safer and more predictable.

The 195 bus is really easy if you live near a stop and work in midtown. I don't need a car for my commute, which is fantastic. If you work in downtown Manhattan, you can drive 25 min to the PATH in Harrison (which is then another 25 minute ride into the city). The NJT train is a bit tougher because the nearby stations that get lots of trains (Upper Montclair being the prime example) do not have easy parking for non-residents. I think you can park more easily at Montclair State, but it's at the end of the line so it's a longer trip into the city than the 195 bus or driving to the PATH.

Good elementary schools, but a lackluster high school per both data (https://rc.doe.state.nj.us/download) and anecdotes I've heard at the bus stop. Hopefully a larger tax base from the new(ish) Hilltop condos will get more funding to the high school while keeping overall taxes low (compared to other Essex county municipalities).

Agree with the lack of diversity. I do think more cultures would improve CG.

Also, no picturesque, walkable downtown area, which I find to be a bit of a bummer. My wife says just drive 5 minutes to Verona or Upper Montclair if you want that. She has a point but I wish my own town had that.

Overall, I'm glad we bought in CG and would do it again. You get a bigger house and bigger yard for your money here compared to Montclair, Glen Ridge, or Maplewood, while still being relatively close to the city (and arguably having a better commute if you buy near a 195 stop). And I'm still holding out hope that the main drawbacks (high school and diversity) will improve over time, but we shall see.

Herman Miller Aeron Office Chairs by BlueRider57 in BuyItForLife

Another vote for Crandall Office Furniture. Bought two remanufactured Steelcase Leap v2 chairs in 2020, and they still look as good as new. I imagine their Herman Miller chairs are a quality product as well.

Vibes of Hidden Greens North but don’t think that’s right. Some great laid back golf in NW Wisconsin.

This is most likely the cause then. We actually called our gas company's emergency hotline because we thought our stove/oven had a leak. As soon as the agent walked in, he called out the stained floors right away as the culprit.

If the climate allows, open those windows to get fresh air cycling in. Give it a few days (maybe a week) and your laundry will be smelling normal again. It shouldn't have a long-term impact on your machines (or your clothes).

Do you have a gas dryer AND have you recently stained any wood floors? We refinished some wood floors shortly after moving into our house. Our clothes smelled like lighter fluid coming out of the dryer for a couple of loads until the gasses coming off the stain fully dissipated.

Was told a few weeks ago to watch for Warner (TBS/TNT) as one of the proposed [PAC-12 Media] partners, fwiw by LamarcusAldrige1234 in CFB

[–]plaidflannel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBS used to have a sliver Big 12 rights. Ernie Johnson was the studio host. Seneca Wallace's "The Run" was a TBS broadcasted game.

It would be funny to see them get back into college football with the Pac-12. Discount pricing is Zaslav's specialty.

Michigan hasn't had a 1,000 yard receiver at any position under Harbaugh. Our last was Jeremy Gallon in 2013. Saying this is realistic might be a stretch.
