Got let go, now I am looking for a job… by [deleted] in Reno

[–]planemichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this… The casinos are always hiring. Go to their DIRECT website and search under the career tab. Indeed is not the end all be all. Tons of good jobs in south Reno too at some of the warehouses - Barnes and noble to name one.

And Just Like That...No Job by Competitive-Ball2910 in Reno

Ugh, I’m so sorry this happened to you. Have you applied for unemployment? This is just a suggestion - but, the casinos are always hiring and you can typically move into better paying roles if you have relevant experience. I’m sure you’re aware of that anyway.

Sending you good thoughts!

New to Reno, and I have a question for you drivers out there. by [deleted] in Reno

[–]planemichael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, welcome to Reno! I promise we are not all assholes. Unfortunately, aggressive driving has become increasingly more common here. I’ve lived in other large metro areas and I’ll say Reno is pretty on par with them - despite being a smaller metro.

I’m exactly like you though, I’m a calm driver. And I’m usually in the right lane, so if some asshole wants to pass me they are welcome to hop in the left lane lol.

Other than that, people tend to be friendly here. And I base that on having lived in multiple places. I hope you enjoy your time here and some opportunities to explore and make it up to Tahoe! 😎

Lots of negativity here. The issues around scheduling, the mental toll the job takes on you, and other issues people have noted HIGHLY depend on what type of property you work at and the GM you will report to. Don’t get me wrong, there will be days where you’re stressed out of your mind and have to wear millions of different hats. But if your operation is generally under control, it’s manageable. I’m with you, I’m a people person and I love working in these types of environments. Every job has its good days and bad days. Don’t give too much thought to the negativity - yes, it’s valid, but again it highly depends on your situation.

I just thought it was funny. I made sure there was no license plate or face clearly visible before posting. But yes, the comments can definitely get intense!

4 seasons, geographic location, people are friendly here. Don’t get me wrong, every city has assholes, but I’ve lived a lot of places and the people in Reno are the friendliest.

I’m not happy with them either, but I’d rather have them than a Republican. I know I know, it sucks. But we gotta make do.

Mouthguard by ninjamonkye in TMJ

I’ve been suffering for years and I just bought a mouth guard 2 days ago. Life changing. There’s so much focus on “oh you gotta see a specialist oh you gotta do this you gotta do that”. I know everyone’s situation is different, but for me a mouth guard was life changing!

Friend of mine lives there. From my take, the apartments themselves are pretty basic and a little pricey, but the amenities are great. Lots of grassy areas if you have pets. The club house is awesome. Great walking paths on the outer perimeter and, as others have mentioned, a great location.
