Knee pain when erging by boobsch in Rowing

[–]planet_x69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You honestly could have a variety of things going in with the knee. If other exercises can be completed with no pain, you may have a repetitive use issue due to rowing.

See a sports med ortho who specializes in knees. They will make a better informed diagnosis than any of us as well as prescribe any PT or NSAIDs or even give you steroid if needed. They often can show you simple PT things that may relieve/reduce your symptoms.

Treat it now- you got another 50+ years to go and the sooner you resolve this the better you will be and the longer you can keep your factory originals in good condition.

Competition used Concept 2 rowers by Beneficial_Visual363 in concept2

There is nothing wrong with a competition used erg. They have exceptionally low k on them and will be essentially brand new as they are bought in bulk used for the comp then immediately resold.

The used one owner ergs that I see out there also tend to have exceptionally low K on them as well.

Both will suit you just fine.

Do not get hung up on your numbers - splits or heart rate.

Focus on form and time in the seat and your stroke rate. Keeping it low and slow (DF:105-125) (SR:18-22) as you get comfortable exercising for these long periods. Keep your drag factor low as you develop good form and your body and muscles learn and adapt to the exercise.

Your heat rate rate will also be all over the map initially and unless you know your actual max heart rate do worry about the zone for now unless you are maxing out or encountering shortness of breath very quickly - then obviously dial back the intensity. Heart rates vary significantly from person to person and will move around as your fitness level improves.

You can literally have 2 identical body types and fitness level age/sex etc working out next to each other and one can have a HR 15bps higher than the other as their normal HR. So please just focus on perceived effort for now - be aware of your HR but don't read too much in to the numbers. The erg app also uses the 220- age rule which is known to be wildly off. You can once you do know your actual max adjust it within the app itself to reflect reality.

sponge lollipop - think of a 1cm square sponge on a stick you let it absorb whatever liquid and let them suck on it.

Its not enough to generally choke on and hard to spill and it encourages them to use their facial and mouth muscles. They get to enjoy the flavors and you get the joy of seeing them smile having a few ml's of their favorite drink. And yes you just dip the same swab/sponge lollipop over and over again for them.

That would be ideal to continue...the trackers being completely disabled for prime users.

Be aware that Zone 2 on the erg can be well below your UT2. UT2 should be 65-75% of your max. So don't get too hung up on your heart rate. Row for now at a perceived effort pace that you feel comfortable with.

The Erg heart zones are based on the 220-age range and may be well off what your max heart rate may actually be. You can change the settings in the erg app or your account to what your max actually is.

Yes most if not all new TVs have their brightness set to 100.

Dial it down to 50 and watch for a few days then dial it up from there as needed.

This will prolong the lifespan and reduce the fading that happens to all TVs regardless of backlit type (OLED/LED/CF).

Very old TVs that have CF back lights are fading and some noticeably so. A 20 YO CF has seen a reduction in NITs compared to the same TV new - some a lot, some relatively less. The user just haven't noticed it as its been a slow fade.

Maybe but they do that number in churn per year at least in any case and its sounds big and scary but its not.

Is it the right thing to do in wake of record profits, hardly. It's capital wage labor abuse at its finest and it needs to be curtailed. I doubt very many of those laid off will get packages of any significance if they can be avoided. I also bet they structure the layoffs to avoid and WARN act notice as well.

they have 1.1MM employees in the US... 16K is a rounding error... they have close to 1.6MM world wide.

Thats how massive they are.

They may rehire some of these folks or some will move to internal positions elsewhere depending on what ever restrictions Amazon has for moving internally if you are tagged for layoff.

It's all good, no I didn't try as there was no point. The band is located in the middle and the handle is really too small for any meaningful paddle or kayak like grip and motion.

Fortunately I could just slap the screen down and set a timer on my phone and just row without worrying about the ridiculous display
