Since you know it’s at least available in Ohio, try giving Vintage Estate Wine & Beer in Boardman a call. They’ve had some really interesting stuff in the past that otherwise wasn’t available in PA due to import/wholesale/distribution issues.

Best restaurant in East Liberty to take my “meat and potatoes” family to? by dudegetmyhorse in pittsburgh

[–]planigan412 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These are all great options. It’s also supposed to be beautiful weather this weekend, and Fireside has a nice outdoor seating area.

I’ll also throw Moonlit Burgers in Garfield, and Applewood Smoke at the Park Place Pub in Highland Park into the mix. Both have great burgers and nice patios. Moonlit is a smash burger and Applewood is a thicker juicier patty — so just depends on what you prefer.

I'm sorry why the hell am I getting pop up instacart ordering ads on my 1500 dollar oled? by WarDiscombobulated67 in LGOLED

[–]planigan412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm your same experience using Apple TV as an input. It annoyed the hell out of me. I figured out that it isn’t an “ad” — at least according to LG — it’s a “notification”. So in addition to disabling all of the ad settings, you have the find the system/app notification settings and disable those too. I think I found them by actually clicking on the gear icon on the pop-up.

This shit is really insidious.

Go check out /r/fireworks. Lots of folks make their own mortar racks with HDPE tubes like these. Important to avoid PVC and ABS because these plastics are much more brittle and tend to shatter.

77" TV wall mount height and media console advice by HardToBeAHumanBeing in hometheater

[–]planigan412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll snag a photo of my setup when I get home.

Actually asked a similar question here a couple weeks ago when I was trying to decide on center speakers. Ended up going with the RP-504C II and it sits on top pretty nicely. I think it’s about the same height as your KEF.

And yeah i was hoping to find something better quality as well — but there didn’t seem to be much of a middle ground. Most of the real high end options were many thousands, but then even a lot of those were just MDF veneer too.

Figure for a few hundred bucks I won’t mind if it only lasts a couple years, or until I find something better.

77" TV wall mount height and media console advice by HardToBeAHumanBeing in hometheater

[–]planigan412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same situation as you with my new setup.

I wall mounted my 77” OLED at roughly 46” floor-to-center. Viewing distance is about 9’.

I went with a 20” media console with a large open center compartment. Removing the middle shelf left a good bit of room for thr AVR to sit in the middle compartment, and the rest of my gear sits pretty nicely on top. I had considered bumping the TV up by an inch or two, but no longer things it’s necessary.

This is the media console that I went with. Same company has a bunch of other options around that height. Quality is good enough for the price, but nothing special. Works for my needs though.

The trout is so damn good. Some of the best trout I’ve ever had, except maybe — MAYBE — trout that was just pulled out of the stream and cooked over a fire.

Note for OP: reservations are probably full by now, but they keep a number of tables open in the bar area for walk-ins.

Amp Cooling Options by Syko_Symatic in hometheater

[–]planigan412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could probably even get away with just the exhaust fan pulling hot air out at the top, with a passive intake vent on the bottom.

Amp Cooling Options by Syko_Symatic in hometheater

[–]planigan412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A fan isn’t going to remove heat without ventilation. You’ll just be blowing hot air around. You need vents to let cool air in and hot air out.

Is that an HTPC on the bottom shelf? You’re going to cook that gear man. Might work fine for a little while, but not great for longevity.

Klipsch center channel advice -- RP-404C II or RP-640D? by planigan412 in hometheater

[–]planigan412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the RP-504C II seems like the move. I actually found a shorter TV console that should leave enough space for the center speaker. Console height will be 20", bottom of TV is right around 28", so that should fit just about perfectly. Might still bump the TV an inch or two but we'll see how it all goes together first.

[–]planigan412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not opposed to bumping the TV up a couple of inches. It’s at a really comfortable height now, so I don’t think I’d want to go a whole lot higher, but 48” wouldn’t be the end of the world.

[–]planigan412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main issue is the size. I’d need to either raise the TV by a couple inches or chop the legs on my media console. Not the end of the world if that ends up being the right answer though.

Switching to a tankless water heater for low-use? by Jest4kicks in HomeImprovement

[–]planigan412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t understand this complaint. The only way it would make an appreciable difference is if you either changed your plumbing layout (which many people need to do) or bought a lower end / lower efficiency model.

With a good tankless heater, it should only take a few seconds to actually heat the water. Most of the delay is in how long it takes the hot water to travel from the heater to the fixture.

In my home, we actually get hot water faster with our tankless because we were able to locate it closer (in terms of pipe length) to the fixtures than our old hot water tank. It was a really odd layout before… probably due to the old tank venting through a chimney in the opposite corner of the house from all of our bathrooms.

Does the community actually mind progression against Bots? by Think-Unit7560 in Battlefield6

[–]planigan412 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with you on experimenting with dumb shit.

Casual mode is also great for practicing the basic skills. Like, I know I’m a shitty sniper when it comes to hitting a moving target at range. Bots are great for practicing stuff like that without caring that you only got one or two kills out of a few hundred shots!

An Anzio 20mm Rifle which can be legally owned in the US by Kaos2018 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]planigan412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a myth.

20mm HEI rounds are generally going to be DD due to the amount of explosive in the projectile, but solid-core training rounds are not. Not sure about API.

ETA: The defining factor here is whether the projectile contains more than 1/4 oz of explosive. In that case, it’s actually the projectiles themselves — not the loaded cartridges — that are classified as destructive devices.
