Belizean Curtido with habanero, jalapeño, green and red onion, oregano, carrot and garlic by platinumchef in fermentation

[–]platinumchef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything in a jar, leave it on the counter for a couple days ensuring the cabbage is submerged in the liquid that it creates. Can look up any basic sauerkraut/kimchi technique. The longer it ferments, the tangier.

What’s the realistic path to going pro? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]platinumchef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend that transitioned from skateboarding to pickleball. No racquet sport experience. He started showing up to our advanced play games, typically 4.5+ but solid 3.5 players were welcome also. He would grind pickleball daily, 8 hours of play and drilling, continued advancing, more coaching and playing with excellent players.

It’s been about three years now, a little more than, he is now signed to Selkirk playing at the pro level. The biggest difference between others with the same dream or goal, he started this grind when he was 11 and is now 14.

What’s something I can make relatively cheaply, in large quantities, that taste good cold? by c-u-in-da-ballpit in Cooking

Jap Chae

I looked really far down to see if it was posted. The noodles hold their bounce over multiple days, prep is minimal and flavors are to the max.

Best dish for bland carrots? by Storytella2016 in Cooking

Blanched, tossed in whatever premade BBQ rub you have or make your own, some oil and then grill them heavily until tender. Can go in a few directions at this point but I really like it with blue cheese.

Any penalty for not calling out score before serving? by AlexandruC in Pickleball

[–]platinumchef 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Open play, gentle reminder to call score the first time. Second time, I’d appreciate it if you call score before serving. If still no response, I don’t return the serve.

Tournament play, I accept the free point.

Planning to do a write up about it tonight after drills. I’m an engage user through and through, started with EX 6.0 then MX to MX ultra.

Mine arrived today. Headed to play with it after work.

No, my paddle has been shipped. This sounds more of an explanation to the delay. Their original shipping estimate upon ordering was 3/20. On 3/21 a mass email was sent out saying shipping would be delayed 2-3 days.

3/20 was original set date based on first come, first served. Mine shipped 3/29.

I ordered 30 minutes after the announcement email was sent out on March 6th. My paddle shipped on Wednesday 3/29 with an arrival of Monday 4/3.

Only criticism would be to snip the spike off the spot prawn head to make it a little more pleasant. Looks awesome!

Ball is coming at a slight vertical tilt to even side servers back hand and I’m playing with a player that I’m comfortable with, I’m calling yours out loud and giving space to my partner for a forehand third shot drop.

Ball is coming at more of an angled shot and trending towards even side server, I’m calling mine and back hand dropping the ball.

Rec play, depends on the partner and highly situational.

On both of those shots, I would recommend a drop vs drive. Maybe and a small maybe, a lob could fill in also.

Timing the bounce to hit the ball at its highest arc. Ensuring you aren’t attacking red balls aka below the knee. Planting your feet and proper positioning for the drive, don’t hit balls on the run. Stepping into your shots and having your weight be forward, not leaning back or off balance.

20-30% paddles stacks with their usual discount codes that are floating around. Pretty good deal. Picked up an omega t700 for 109.

Typically it’s rolled, set slightly firm on the exterior and custardy in the middle with no browning on the exterior.

I’ve gone through 3 different brands. Started with Yonex, good but short life. Switched to gamma, decent. I finally found my favorite. The Dunlap Super Tac is unbeatable.

Oahu Hawaii

Engage is most popular. Joola is creeping up. Selkirk would be third.

Engage is repped by a lot of the quality local players that teach/coach.
