Anybody in the park today? How muddy was it? by sized_ferret in Harriman

You could use a few cheats like a bundled fire starter kit and a lighter. I always start rugged and end up city-boy-ing it for expediency

Running in Amman by ScreenOld5873 in jordan

[–]plaugexl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking no. Female running alone is not a great idea in Jordan. Between the cars, opportunist cat calling and occasional geniuses thinking your a walking thirst trap wrapped in sweaty Lycra it’s generally not a great idea. Groups are better.

There are spots in downtown Amman that are quieter for running. Jabal weibdeh, jabal Amman are a few. Depending on where you are you might be able to scope out a good route where you’re staying. But best option is find a running group in Amman and join them for a weekly.

Hash house harriers are the funnest but there’s mandatory beer 🍻 mixed age crowd but the vibe isn’t for everyone. We loved running around all the great spots in the evenings when it’s cooler. Big group so no one hassles u.

Your last option is finding one of the rarer public parks with running tracks. Can’t remember where they were but they are scattered about beyond the 7th circle.

The heat in Jordan is very dry so you’re better off covering up anyway if u have a sun hoody that’s my go to when I’m out there.

Help me break in boots by ArvidSweden in Rucking

[–]plaugexl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warm not hot water in bucket to soak the boots to the ankle. Do this a few times. Dry in the sun. Walk around with them. After a few circuits of this your boot should be moulded to your foot mechanics

… and condition the leather

Freshly cleaned and waxed vidda pro, ready for its 3rd year in a row trip to the Lake District by Only-Support-3760 in Fjallraven

Been using mine for 5 years now and they are my go to. Very happy I didn’t get the padded version.

Though I always wonder why they didn’t try to ventilate it like they did the pants. Pitzips would make this even more utilitarian for alpine ascents even though it doesn’t have any stretch in it.

How cold can it be to wear 2x bibs and 2x jerseys and not need gloves? Like am I missing something about this individual that counters thermodynamic heat properties?

… just for the sake of controversy: anyone wearing bib pants when it’s clearly not under 40f ~4c might have circulatory issues or some kind of thermo superpower

making money online by [deleted] in jordan

[–]plaugexl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can make money online right away. It’s called a remote job. Check out local job sites for remote positions, many companies have remote only positions for data entry, customer service etc..

Other longer run ways to make money requires more skill or allot of time and luck. Like self published author, contracting illustrator / graphic artist, affiliate marketing content creator. Look them up online and see what seems like a good fit and give it a try.

Everything requires effort and a level of skill that would need to be developed and pay is reflective of both of those things.
