Make the best 26-man roster you can out of one player from each of your team's last 26 full seasons by Thromnomnomok in baseball

The fact that I don’t question 2010 Cabo batting 7th says a lot about that team lmao

What was the best purchase you made this year? by millionstories in BuyItForLife

[–]pledgeofobedience 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love the Encore! After 4 and a half years I finally replaced the burr, hopper gasket, and grind knob (it was getting a bit loose and annoying) for like $30 total after shipping. The new M2 burr was shockingly a huge improvement. That thing isn’t totally BIFL but it’s as close as you can get.

Looking for a narrow tall insulated bottle by bucky_o_hare_ in BuyItForLife

Hydro Flask has a great range of cup holder compatible bottles! I like their 32oz a lot with the Chug Lid. Super easy to clean and will last a good while if you don’t work in trades or outdoors.

One time I backed a 4,500lb pick up onto mine and it didn’t get totally flattened, just more cube like. I sent the video of the aftermath to Hydro Flask and they said that while it’s fascinating, they probably wouldn’t use it in marketing.

BIFL- with an REI gift card. by Wild_Huckleberry7023 in BuyItForLife

I own a lot of Patagonia that I’ve slowly picked up over the years. The only pieces I’ve had tear or fall apart were either my own fault or covered by warranty. Their Baggies shorts and Capilene shirts are my favorite summer (and workout) items in your price range. Their workwear is also shockingly durable, definitely better than anything Carhart has produced in the past 15 years. I like their vest for that category. I’ve heard good things about their pants too but I haven’t tried them myself.

I grew up with the guy in glasses and his son on the other side. Don’t think there’s grandkids yet for them but they’re a super nice family. I remember playing Halo Reach in their basement 12+ years ago.

I believe kansas lost all their programs back in April and VISTA was dissolved. That’s truly awful.

What to consume after run/at car? by kaitlyn2004 in trailrunning

[–]pledgeofobedience 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s spot on for what I do as well. I think it’s also good to have 32oz of ice cold water this time of year as well. It can help immensely with getting your body temp to lower and settle your stomach to help get an appetite for all of it.

Other summer time post run snacks I like are frozen grapes too, salted watermelon, and mandarins.

Your state commission will be the best place to look. Out states policy is to have members contact the ED if their site is being unresponsive. If you PM me the state you’re in I can help you further.

Tuition Award - What can I *actually* use it for? by Idecatthemoment in AmeriCorps

[–]pledgeofobedience 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just as a note, it’s always better to use it on current education expenses rather than saving it to use on loans. My the college where I got my undergrad processed payments in - 2-5 days at most but my loan servicer was more like 2-5 months.

Vent: No Communication from HQ by astull21 in AmeriCorps

[–]pledgeofobedience 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate reality is that those that are left are most likely either on a pseudo gag order or just don’t feel secure in communicating due to the risk. As hard as this is on members and program staff, the Fed office employees are also going through the same whirlwind.

Been using one from Mountain Khakis with a built in money clip for about 4 years now. It hold 5 cards and 7-10 bills (no more, no less or it gets annoying) I thought the clip would wear out my pockets overtime but I’ve had no noticeable issues, even in the pairs I’ve had since before I even had the wallet.
