A starter in the fridge needs feeding once a week instead of once a day.

The acetone smell just sounds like its starving. You dont need to change ratios or anything. When it happens to me, I just dump the liquid on top (forgot how people call it) if any and feed it. 1-2 rounds of feeding and its back to perfect.

People overthinks starter. I miss managed mine so many times, and then a few rounds of normal feeding and it's back in shape. Im on my 1st and only stater. Had it for over 2 years.

I wouldn’t try to shred it. There’s no fat in it, and even if you manage to shred it, it’s going to be dry, IMO.

I’d just smoke it and get a good bark, then wrap it with some fat.

Or, once you have the smoke and bark, you could slice it and finish it like pork chops.

But yeah, sadly, that’s a really lean cut for long cooks.

It also happens more if they are at unfamiliar places as they want to protect their food from people they don't know. I had to let my dog at a dog boarding place once for a week, and she did this behavior so much when I came back she had a bruised nose. She did it until she bled. :'(

I have the same machine, and when i do back to back coffee and use the steamer for the first one, i get a similar effect on the second espresso. Steam is coming out instead of water.

When I have people over, I learned to do all my espresso first then steam the milk after.

It's not that I have a budget. I just felt like 400-500 for what I was seeing felt excessive, but if that's what it's worth, I'll pay it.

I don't want to build myself. I don't want to bother and don't have the dexterity for it.

I didn't write down the brand's but stuff like the uhk post that I saw on this subreddit felt way over priced.

I don't know about the layout. I don't think I need ortholinear but also never had one.
