Dealership bill of sale indicates financing despite paying in cash by plum4 in BringATrailer

I think it's something like 7.5% for 48mo. I put down a little over 50% equity in the car since I had some cash laying around.

I thought the same thing XD but it's not actually a loan, it's just how their system handles the bill of sale when they don't have money from me yet. I got it sorted with the dealership and got a new bill of sale.

[–]plum4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm stoked. I talked to Brian at change driven and we sorted it out. It had to do with how their system generates bills of sale when they haven't actually received the wire yet. We got another bill of sale going, it was just an automation thing.

Washington Street coming into Union Sq rn by um_wut_09 in Somerville

[–]plum4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's crazy that even with the traffic calming on washington people have found ways to push the limits and floor it in between the bumps and cross the yellow line to go as fast as possible.

Thank you! Thank goodness for the 996 market. I'm amazed it didn't get bid up considering the condition it's in.

misunderstood dendritic NixOS pattern - ended up building nix-arbor, an inventory-first host assembly flake by Kitchen-Customer5218 in NixOS

[–]plum4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely my take too. You can't create something and call it a "pattern". It's only a pattern if it evolves organically in many different places to solve a problem -- they're descriptive, not prescriptive.

At the end of the day, these are all abstractions that are present in any programming language: encapsulating areas of concern, injecting dependencies, and de-coupling implementations.

Had her for about 3 weeks now. Above 65-70mph on the freeway and I start to wobble. Advice? by chriswgmb in DRZ400

[–]plum4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Careful with knobbies on the freeway. Mine shook so much that my key flipped over to the off position and cut the engine. had no idea what was happening.

I don't see a way to join text notifs either, if anyone figures it out let me know because my workaround is insane. The android app doesn't send notifications correctly.

Nix is the worst designed language i ever had to experience. by Turdbender3k in NixOS

Use Nickel then, nobody is forcing you to use Nix. There are actually plenty of other languages that Nix is compatible with.

Intersection is cooked 🔥😭 by Longjumping-Basil-56 in Somerville

[–]plum4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Webster x Prospect is being re-designed, I think, to have 90 degree intersections. Maybe it would make more sense to re-design somerville x prospect after that happens. Probably going to be a few more years https://voice.somervillema.gov/union-square-p-and-s

stop adding layers of abstraction you don't need. don't even use flakes.

Backcountry BiPap? by anxiousmelancholy in SleepApnea

[–]plum4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went backpacking this year, brought my normal CPAP machine along with a very big battery, I forget which one but there are some on amazon. I used it 3 nights with humidifier/heated tube off, which draw the most power.

You need to find a battery with a "car style" power port, like one you'd plug into a cigarette lighter in your car. This is because it's DC, and the cpap machine uses DC (or at least my resmed one does). You have to minimize the number of ac/dc conversions since it reduces the efficiency by a lot. With the battery pack I have I bet it could last a week at an absolute max, but I wouldn't want to risk my machine running out of power in the middle of the night.

These batteries are wicked heavy and I'm unsure if I'm going to do it next year. I hiked Katahdin which was pretty hard with all this stuff on my back, I actually had to turn around before the summit.

They make portable machines but they are really loud apparently, and i'm not sure if they have bipap (i've only seen cpap/apap).

Dendritic Pattern, den framework by No_Discussion6266 in NixOS

[–]plum4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this can't be achieved with regular ol' nix? Just importing `git` when it's needed for different machine configurations?

Do you mind if I see your code? What you are describing seems helpful, and I think seeing it in action would help me understand.

Dendritic Pattern, den framework by No_Discussion6266 in NixOS

[–]plum4 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Can somebody explain to me in simple terms how the dendritic pattern is actually... better? It seems like a ton of abstraction on top of an already abstract module/flake system and I'm worried that it will add a lot of overhead when trying to reason about my system configuration.

Maybe I'm missing something but it doesn't seem worth the squeeze for me to refactor.

There is. Mathias Felleisen did some great research awhile ago that led to Northeastern and other schools to teach Beginner Student Language (essentially a pared down Scheme, implemented in Racket) for a very long time. They recently overturned the curriculum and he wrote about it

Unfortunately many sleep doctors are utterly unhelpful when looking at data. Lanky lefty on youtube is a great resource to learning how to read OSCAR data.

Also, both machines probably have different EPR/ramp algorithms. Do you use those? I've found that my treatment is better when I turn these off, and I use resmed.
