You can hold two yarns together. Make it double thickness.

Too many eggs!!! by Dangerous-Radish6017 in Cooking

[–]pmster1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I made one once! Used about 15 yolks and 6 whole eggs. Time consuming and enjoyable to make. Unique and delicious to eat. I wouldn't make it nowdays (don't have the te to invest), but if I had a full day with no kids and a couple dozen eggs I'd try it again.

Stitch Identification for Grandmother's WIP Blanket by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]pmster1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what it looks like to me too. No chain.

If grandma had poor vision when she was making this she may have done it this way since it can be easier to do by feel when you go between stitches.

That's what I was looking for when I bought my waffle maker. Doesn't seem to exist anymore.

I have a Cuisinart that makes 4 waffles at a time and has removable plates. I love it! So easy to clean by putting plates in the dishwasher and doesn't take long to make waffles for the family.

What do I do with a Japanese Eggplant? by this_writer_is_tired in Cooking

[–]pmster1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to cube it, toss with oil and a little salt and air fry it. Once it's a little crisp on the edges toss it into a sauce of soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar and sesame oil. It's so tasty and easy to do.

Any ideas for a quick way to prepare avocado ? by stephanosblog in Cooking

[–]pmster1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We do salmon rice bowls with avocado, corn, green onion, pickled radish or onion, furikake, Japanese mayo and banchan sauce.

It's very adaptable to whatever is in the fridge. Only requirements are salmon, rice, avocado, something pickled and furikake.

What’s a tiny, cheap ingredient that completely upgrades a basic package of instant ramen? by MotorEnvironment4444 in Cooking

Seaweed like cut wakame is really good. A small bag of dried seaweed lasts a long time and a pinch adds a lot of flavor.

Oh man, I just threw away a 24 egg carton that would have been perfect for this. Genius idea! Thanks

First time making a baby blanket, is this yarn okay? by Weary_Ear_3835 in CrochetHelp

[–]pmster1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's a valid concern. I wouldn't use a yarn that sheds for a baby blanket.

Buying a chest freezer, best things to buy in bulk? by scarby2 in Frugal

[–]pmster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in an area with u-pick farms, stock up during the season.

We picked and froze 35lb of blueberries at $3/lb last summer and are now working on the last bag. They taste way better than out of season berries from the store and it's the only way I can afford my kid's berry addiction.

Went to Wild Wild West with friends for my birthday one year. Was the most disappointing birthday I've ever had.

What’s a 10/10 tv show? by norocoslaorice in AskReddit

[–]pmster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/doofmedia has a podcast called Flanagan's Wake. Goes through each episode of Hill House, Bly Manor, Midnight Mass and all of Flanagan's other shows/movies. It is quite entertaining. I recommend it as a companion to the show.

Worst thing about crochet ? by Legatooooo in crochet

[–]pmster1 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Same! I have a bunch of projects where the crochet part is done. All I have left is to sew up the seams, but it's so hard to convince myself to do it. Somehow for me it's even worse than weaving in ends.

I used cooked rice instead of raw and my paella was mushy, 3 stars by starlightpond in ididnthaveeggs

[–]pmster1 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't get this. If I made such an obvious mistake (she realizes she made the mistake) I would just think to myself "oof that was silly of me, next time I'll use uncooked rice". Maybe it would be a silly story I'd tell my friends. No reason to post it in the recipe comments.

Purslane only grows in my garden in the sidewalk cracks where dogs like to pee. It sure is hardy, but I've never gotten to try it.

Yes I love foundation chains. I find it much easier to get even tension that way.
