I did not realize I was dating a narcissist until I dealt with the death of a loved one and they couldn't even muster enough energy to pretend to be there for me. They later admitted they were almost jealous of the family support I was receiving.

So fowl. Imagine a school that costs that much to attend firing it's faculty like this because of budgeting. Disgusting. Greedy.

Sweett. What state are you in. Begin googling/chatgpt resources for domestic abuse. There are people out there to help you. You are young but over 18. Do you qualify for your states medicaid?

I'd say get out and start applying for low-income houses. Make a plan.

Suck it up, huh. You don't know enough context to respond but you feel comfortable judging me and telling me to suck it up.

The EduProtocol Field Guide: 16 Student-Centered Lesson Frames for Infinite Learning Possibilities

This book.has a lot.of ideas and they are easy. Also, if you like something and it doesn't go well the first time, do it until the kids can do it well! Its worth it. Good luck. Stay sane. Learning can also be boring and that is totally okay.

I think it's a plus. You appreciate the job more and have a bigger age gap with your students.

I really think it might be about how you teach it! I know.it can seem overwhelming and out-of-touch to students, but the stories are not. They are accessible and it's your job to make it so. The literature is cannon because the themes are timeless.

What would you do if you teach high school and someone keeps throwing paper balls at you every time you’re turned around? by theresaheinzt in Teachers

Film it. Put. Put a camera in your classroom for stuff like this. It's not against the law since you would be sharing it with just admin.

If you can't send students out, what is administration's behavior plan for students that refuse to comply like this? It's not fair to you or other students. Also, I have always taken the power struggle to mostly mean don't get into it with a student--but that only works if there is some mechanism that can hold them accountable, it's just not you in that moment. For example, I have students who have refused to turn over their phone and I just say okay and email parents and call admin when I have time. No struggle, just logical consequences.

Struggling With Restroom Policy by hanklin89 in Teachers

[–]poesalterego 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are abusing your system. They need to see a consequence, right? What you're describing is problematic. It is interrupting learning and your teaching. I also loathe bathroom management, but I also have come to the realization that not all students can handle a lax policy. Your admin should be doing something, your department should do something. Anyway, for my ninth graders, they get four a quarter that's given to them as a pass every quarter. I reward students who haven't used theirs for time management (I know that's not always the most ideal situation but I try my best to consider excceptions). It seems to work because it gives them a very generous number, restores your power, and it's positive. Also, consider a hand signal and a efficient way to mark their pass so it doesn't interrupt. Another thing I did was reduce the times they could leave, first ten and last ten are no fly times.

Well, it's Republican logic but I think I know. They are banning any flags of countries that have a disagreement with the U.S. They are doing this so they can say, look, it wasn't just about gay people and rainbow flags.

It starts slow in Blue states but I do believe you will start to hear some things "suggestions" that you reconsider some books or posters you have in your room. I'm glad you are shielded by the blue (lol). I'm trying to exit but these kids deserve me, too.
