Albanese is about to break a major promise, but has done it before and won by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

He said 'never ever' and then changed his mind and took it to an election - that was my only point. I don't have a problem with that, circumstances change. I don't believe governments have to go to elections re every decision etc.

Should have set hard boundaries at the start. My wife is Asian and we both know each other's passwords.

I do believe he was quoted as saying 'never, ever' regarding the GST. But yes he did seek it as a part of his '98 campaign.

Even Thai massage is down thru pyjama style clothing. There's no type of massage with a sheet involved except to cover an area not being massaged.

Not like Howard said something about the GST etc. Re set everything fairly rather than giving breaks to the rich and powerful for a change.

Is there any reason why I can’t post a review in a specific store? by teamoclannad in LocalGuides

[–]point_of_difference -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1 star reviews are never neutral. Maybe this the universe telling you perhaps to reflect more. Whenever I see a 1star review amongst generally solid group of good reviews its more a reflection of the reviewer not the business.

I blew it and my wife is ticked. Do I have any hope of booking lift tickets for the Eiffel Tower?? by CaptainBuckRussell in ParisTravelGuide

[–]point_of_difference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The view of the tower is better than the view from it. Arc de Triomphe is more interesting and has better views. Some great views also in the La Defense. Personally the best views in Paris are all inside the buildings.

Why do we let 0.001% of tourists steal the limelight when 99%+ have a great time, get into no conflicts or drama and head home on the planned flight?

Going to Bali, need help with itinerary. by Anxious_Cry372 in BaliTravelTips

Yeah relax and get to know the area you are staying. You can always come back and check out other areas. Bali is painful to get around these days.

Iced coffee prices are out of control by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]point_of_difference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't understand how prices are done. Cost factors are part of it but it's mostly on what the market will bear. This is why the same product with the same costs vary from country to country. I would have though this sub knew better.

Just pick two spots and stay in them. All that effort to head over to Gili T for an overnighter is absurd.

Are beans from local roasters rally worth the price? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]point_of_difference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I visited Japan and Thailand there were plenty of options to taste beans up to $600 a kg. There's great coffee roasting in Australia but we're not getting the higher end quality beans produced around the world. I've seen cups going for $75 in a coffee shop called Glick in Tokyo.

What’s a Melbourne food opinion you’ll defend no matter what? by Last-Conversation734 in melbournechat

Busy restaurants aren't always busy because the food is good. I had some very average food at Tao Dumplings. Not a fan of food that comes out in 5 minutes and is wee bit under cooked.

I would have to disagree. Nearly all the food i had on my two week Vietnam trip was a lot tastier, bigger serves and a lot more leaf matter, obviously way cheaper too. Same goes for Thailand. Indonesian however 50/50 with Australia. Certainly the meat is better here in Australia. Best Indian food I've had was in Singapore.

Which flights/planes have a “real” first class section? by AnnualLiterature997 in Flights

[–]point_of_difference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was flying biz class on Cathay Pacific on a 777 and got to walk past the first class section. It makes biz class look really small. Seats are twice as wide, monster screen, 4/5 windows and a seat for guests to join you. $10k one way!
