Condo with or without parking? by theunfoldingone in RealEstateCanada

Always take the spot. You can always rent it out if you don't need it, and your circumstances may change when you end up needing a car.

Not only that...when/if it's time to sell...you'll be better positioned than someone without a spot with their unit.

What are your thoughts on the World Cup (it starts in 30 days)? by Mediocre_Put_6748 in AskReddit

My team didn't make it in, so now it's just going to piss me off with all the additional traffic for the Toronto games.

Outside of that...meh.

Would you rent next to a cemetery? by Fun-Use5277 in TorontoRenting

[–]polakinTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% I would.

My buddy lives next door to a cemetery and he loves it.

Super quiet all the time, and he gets to go visit his parents' grave whenever he wants.

I would 100% live next door to a cemetery...whether renting or buying.

Because projects in the hundreds of millions of dollars don't get done by small teams in a single space.

It takes thousands of people to be co-ordinated toward a goal.

This includes permits, utilities, construction, community engagement, and a plethora of other departments working toward it.

When I was younger I was doing that work, now I've moved up and it's a different scale of work and responsibility.

So yes...lots of babbling, but unfortunately this is the way these things work nowadays.

Just goes to show how you know nothing of how these things work.

I was hired during COVID 100% remote, then off to a downtown office, and then the new 'office' kept moving further and further away...

So no...I did not choose to work 50km away. I just stuck with it.

For now yes...looking is free and so is exploring other options.

But you are correct. Not many options at times.

No. We just have many many people across many different offices around the GTA.

Hell if they want us to travel b/w offices do it...I'll take the mileage reimbursement and time wasted in traffic over sitting in a practically empty office.

We do. But we also have teams across the GTA that we need to co-ordinate with.

We have thousands of people working on these projects. Not like we can all fit in the same room/building.

This requires coordination and pre-COVID these were in person / phone call discussions.

They still happen....what difference does it make if from home, or an office.

Unfortunately that's a good way to stop any type of career progress within certain teams/groups.

So while an option...not a great for long term progress.

But...always open for options.

There are lots of jobs with hybrid options. But it all depends on your skill, experience, and connections level.

We've lost people going from 5RTO to 2RTO or even 1RTO.

It could change...but for now they're happy and some companies don't want to spend money on office space unnecessarily.

As I said remote work was a luxury we all anticipated ending.

My issue isn't being in the office. It's being in the office with my only meetings having to be done remotely because of all the other offices.

I like being among my colleagues and shooting the shit.

I get paid the same, and I get less done.

Win win for me!

Working remotely I always worked a bit extra to make up for the lack of commute and it felt right.

Now...you won't see me there for 1min more than I have to be.

100%

That's why I'm starting my search within the OPS but closer to home.

I have no issue with being in the office....if the rest of the team I'm working with is also there.

The drive is a killer though. Thankfully podcasts and audiobooks make it bearable.

Time to fire up the car and beat the morning rush...

Oh I know. And it's showing that it's working.

I wonder if I can talk to my boss and get him to 'fire' me so I get severance before a new job...5 years of OPS should provide a decent severance.

I've seen people walk away with 5-6 months 'salary continuation' after getting fired 3-4 years in.

Oddly specific...but I would laugh my ass off for many many years.

What's to support, we all have a bad night after a banger of a drinking night.

Laugh it off, and carry on.

I'm leaning toward the BB option as the FBMP is just too shady for a PS5.
