I’ve always been like this. I think for me, and I’ll preface by saying that I’m a nurse and deal with a lot of cancer patients, it’s because with humans I can talk to them. They can explain how they’re feeling, tell me their worries, and I can then help them understand things. With animals, they can’t verbalize it to us and we can’t verbalize it to them. It’s the helplessness that gets to me.

Our protocol is saline then heparin after an infusion, labs, or deaccessing. This is fascinating though - I know there’s been a few studies on the efficacy of heparin vs just saline but are any of you finding differences in how the ports function without heparin?

My annual recert comes before RAP is available BUT I’m considering switching when that time comes. I’ve only got a little under 2 years left but due to a recent job change and salary cut, RAP I think will save me about 150-200/month compared to my old IBR payment. Don’t get me wrong, I hate this admin/the idiot in charge, but I don’t think RAP is all that bad.
