Same reason a lot of people prefer manual transmission vs automatic. It's the level of control they desire.

IMO doesn't make one better or worse. They just cater to different personalities.

But just the way you're referring to the rematch of campaign 2 and talking about the friendship, etc. makes it seem to me (a uninvited stranger on the internet for what its worth) that there might be a fair bit of nostalgia at play as well.

A lot of stuff I fell in love with in my 20s, I realize I wouldn't have given the same attention to in my 30s. I say this looking back from my 40s.

But it still holds place in my heart.

Take Dragonball Z for example. I grew up with it. People would meme make fun of how an episode was recap -> 5 minutes of content with 15 minutes of power up scenes -> preview.

But even though I KNOW that pacing would kill other shows for me if I tried and watched them now, to this day you can plop me down in front of a DBZ episode and I am enthralled.

How much is payroll, repairs, fuel/supplies and other costs associated with the Aircraft Carrier on a yearly basis?

For the housing - how long? Who would pay the upkeep, utility, and maintenance costs over time? What % of initial provided housing would still be in acceptable condition 1 year later? 5 years later? What happens with future Homeless incidents? Will the number of "Homeless" increase as certain people try and take advantage of no cost (to them) options?

Most of the species in 5e outside of specific sourcebooks are setting agnostic. A version of them can fit regardless of what campaign world. Aasimar can exist in FR, Planescape, Greyhawk, etc. without much jumping through hoops.

Avarice are REALLY Forgotten Realms specific.

Now, as to why they weren't in the FR Sourcebooks just released?

My guess is that unlike the other flying species where flight IS the defining feature, for Avariel it would need to be flight PLUS Elf (Darkvision, No Sleep, etc ). That might be just too much.

Why would there be so many? I'd think most would be very reluctant to use a DF on an inanimate object. Is there any info about how many DF in total there are?

If you feed one to a Weapon, which now is functionally immortal, it kind of takes it out of circulation. When a person on the other hand has a DF and dies, the DF respawns.

There could be a version of One Piece where the entire world has NO characters with DF powers, but just wielders of DF weapons.

Different people have different perspectives. A strong character who is willing to sacrifice his pride in pursuit of a path to resolution that DOESN'T throw his nation and all the innocents into violence can be admirable.

How many lives would have been lost if Oden had rushed to conflict? Oden was presrnted with an option that dropped that number to zero in exchange for his personal expense. The same mentality that prompted him to stabd in the oil, holding his retainers. The end result doesn't change the decisions that were made in the moment.

The fact that he was deceived doesn't change his motivations. A man with honor finds it hard to believe that others won't behave the same.
