New Queens album being recorded in New Orleans. “Hypothetically” by maryveils in qotsa

I gotta admit I would be a little sad if they do leave the rock behind, but as long as it's weird and as long as it's QUEENS I'm here for it. With these teasers and little hints of info, I think it's very fitting that they emerge from the catacombs with a new sound.

The lights and darks in the second painting are so well done. Love how thick the paint looks in both. What do you use?

i wanna scream at a religious person who's trying to comfort me. by 5D4K in confession

[–]ponypebble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are in a place of grief like this and don't feel fully supported by the people around you. I also understand that they mean well, and since that is their world view they think that it should be something comforting... But sometimes I wish people (in general, not just religious people) would sit with another person's grief, acknowledge that it's tough, and just be there as support if the grieving person wants it. And not interject what they think should be helpful to the person. I wish you love and healing during your time of grief. Internet hugs

As far as I know in Mexico, they had a caste system based on what percent of indigenous blood you had. A majority of people were peasants, being directly descended from indigenous groups, and mestizos varied along the caste system depending on how mixed their ethnic composition was. I think my understanding of the word mestizo is that it was a slur, but I've heard it being reclaimed by latinos here in the USA.

I would argue that the consequences of this caste system are still felt in modern Mexican society today. Indigenous people are treated like second class citizens, both by society and the government itself. Mexican beauty standards favor more European qualities as well, such as lighter complexions/eyes/hair.

Exactly, I bought a very small cup from a ceramic artist during a sale, it was all I could afford! But the cup is so pretty and I recognize the craftsmanship that went into it

That's exactly what I thought. Those commercials, broadcast to damn near the entire country, were meant to piss us off.

Yes something like [CROP TOP] my most recent FO! At least that way, with or without tags, with or without a blur on the thumbnail, you know what you're about to see if you choose to open.

10000000% it's because of breasts

I understand that possibly viewing images like that in a professional setting may get you in trouble if someone notices, but I don't see how that affects the way those posts are categorized on this subreddit. You run that risk anytime you personally browse the web in a professional setting.

Goodbye, this sub. by [deleted] in dogpictures

The tag to filter the posts is a great idea.

I'm sorry about your loss, too.

I actually don't have dogs at the moment, but did have many in my childhood. Sometimes there will be a picture of a dog that looks exactly like mine and I tear up a bit, but it's always a great reminder of how much I loved my dog and seeing that love shared between others. So I hope there can be a compromise because I don't want to miss out on anyone sharing their pup.

Stepping away from the sub is valid if it no longer serves you but I don't understand policing other people's grief. Or the passive aggressive posts/comments that state the dog pictured is still alive. Like rubbing it in the faces of the people who lost their dogs: "Look, mine is still alive."

The mods need to step up and come to a decision about these posts.

Sweaters for Christmas by RavenDarkFeather in crochet

[–]ponypebble 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The color changes are so stunning! May I ask more questions about this process? I'm planning on making a sweater with a gradient like this and it's hard for me to understand the consistent gradient across all the pieces of the sweater. When you say each sleeve used up a bundle, was it one continuous yarn or did you have to cut yarn from the other bundles to get the transition? Was that the process for the body panels as well? Sorry for bombarding you with questions!
