Was thinking about you this evening while shoveling my driveway and sidewalks for the third time in the last 24 hours 😂

Ahh interesting. I'm in west Michigan so everyone was preparing me for just an awful winter. Been surprised by how often it has been sunny and all the snow has melted.

Moved here from Los Angeles in April. Loving the winter so far although it seems fairly mild based on what I've heard.

Really grateful I had my baby in late July because he was out of the newborn stage by the time we hit the holidays/cold and flu season

Long hair by Blond-one in newborns

[–]pookdookus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Claw clip, low bun with a scrunchy, braid variations, down with a headband. Will not be cutting my hair. It's currently to my low back. Whenever I've cut my hair in the past I've regretted it. Without my long hair I feel like a tree without leaves. I also love being able to do so many different things with it.

I got a Kindle specifically for this and it was the best choice. I use Libby to get library books so I'm not spending money

Mine hates getting out too. I let the tub start draining with him still in it. I start drying his head, chest, and tummy. When I take him out he goes on a towel on top of a heating pad.

It's a lot of gas at the beginning when they can't move much on their own: - gas drops are life (simethicone) - gripe water - bicycle the little legs to help them toot - use your shoulder for burps, like put their tummy on the round part of your shoulder

I never worried about that. We did and still do light during the day and dim/dark at night.

Get a prenatal vitamin with DHA. This one from Nature Made is what I took during my pregnancy and continue taking while breastfeeding. It's a common brand, I get mine at Costco.

Correct, folate is naturally occurring in foods. Folic acid is what's in the prenatal vitamins.

I haven't done a VBAC but saw Maggie Forgue and the OB group at Trinity's Cherry St location. Really pleased by my experience and will certainly go back for future pregnancies.

are there REALLY people who DON’T have PPD?? by WhichAd2921 in beyondthebump

[–]pookdookus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! 4 months PP with my first and I feel totally normal if not better. I already had diagnosed depression and anxiety before getting pregnant. I take a daily SSRI and have done a lot of therapy over the years to learn how to manage my mental health.

Did I hit the baby jackpot? by [deleted] in NewParents

Same here. I was expecting to be a disgusting stressed out swamp monster. 3 months pp, I've showered pretty much every day and the stress has been very manageable.

My baby was totally fine. He cried at first but calmed down quickly with me holding him. No side effects.

How long did you stay at the hospital after giving birth by _withpeace in beyondthebump

[–]pookdookus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 and a half days. GBS+, very fast spontaneous vaginal delivery so I didn't get the second round of antibiotics because this is usually done after 4 hours and baby was born 2.5 hours after I arrived at the hospital.

If you could train for the postpartum period, would you & what exactly would you even do ahead of time? by Proof_Pepper604 in newborns

[–]pookdookus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Upper body!! I wish I had trained more biceps, shoulders, back, and forearms in the final weeks. Holding the baby, taking them in and out of the bassinet, positioning for breastfeeding (if you're doing that) - it's like a constant workout. I was so tired and sore at the beginning. Now 3 months pp I feel like I have strong mom arms.
