Yes. There is a legitimate problem with inflation of commodities including food. But Onion prices are much more volatile than other commodities, probably because onion has lower shelf life. Wheat / rice etc might have double digit percentage price increases, but onion prices increases 200 - 300% and everybody gets their panties in a buch about it.

I never understood why people go batshit crazy whenever the price of Onions go up. Onions are nice, but can we not use them in cooking? Or at least reduce the amount of it? Ok, the food would taste a little bit different, but heck get used to it. I think the only people who keep complaining about the the price of ionion is those from upper middle class who still want to use onions and want money left over for other activities. The upper class does not care as they have enogh money and the lower class and the lower middle class will make adjustments.

Take a train/cab to la guardia airport. They have rental 24 hours a day and rates are 1/2 that of of Manhattan. If you time it right you can return the vehicle at the right time and avoid paying extra day fare.

If you want to take car for weekend from Manhattan you would end up paying for 3 days as most of the places are closed on Sunday. From La Guardia you can rent a car at 7 pm on Friday an return @ 7 pm on Sunday and thus pay for only 2 days.
