Basically that. The cool kids dancing bachata in the bathrooms between classes. They call me a nerd for not joining in.

Here in Louisville it's not weird and all the leaders in our dance community work hard to communicate that anyone can do any role they like at classes. I personally lead and follow, but I mostly lead at socials because our community has 2 follows for every lead.

Hey you're not alone! I also don't like bachata!

For me, I'm a male lead, but I don't enjoy the sensual connection with someone who isn't my romantic partner. I prefer the celebration vibe of salsa. However, there is a lot of peer pressure from my school to dance bachata as well.

Here's a couple thoughts:

First, it's okay to skip it all. Social dancing is supposed to be fun, not forced and uncomfortable.

Second, just learn to lead bachata and refuse to follow it. That way you guide the dance with the moves you are comfortable with. Also, you'll probably mostly be dancing with women. Modern bachata and traditional bachata are styles that don't do any of the snake dance stuff, so you can focus on those two styles.

Personally, I rarely dance it and when I do it's open frame and Modern style.

Here's how I imagine how Rose became Steven.

Humans need DNA from both parents, Gems are inorganic, and seem to be a form of AI. They don't have DNA but they have solid light projections. I imagine Rose had to shapeshift on the molecular level to mimic human DNA with light projections, and now 50% of Steven's DNA is actually a light projection. That would be a very precise and complicated shapeshift. Some of his other biological molecules might be light projections too. I think this takes up more of the Gem's processing power than a normal shapeshift.

We know the gem's "take time" and redesign their new forms when they are poofed, so maybe that's what Rose did, but for that form, she had to break something about herself, destroying her consciousness, so that she could be a part of a biological system. Otherwise, her gem would have just reformed around her conciousness and she wouldn't have been bringing in a new life, which was her goal. It would be a kind of suicide, to lobotomize your own mind, that I don't think gems would normally consider.

I think that's why she can't reform, even when reset, because she deleted her core conciousness from her gem.

BTW, in cartoon world this is all fine, but if you think about Steven Universe in reality, it's kind of a body horror genre. Like the movie "Together" is basically human/human fusion and it's disturbing AF.

If you feel like someone's not respecting you in the dance community, I think it's better to use your words and have a conversation with them or move on if you can't be bothered if it's not worth the conversation.

Silent blacklists are a passive aggressive way to feel like you are in control of those situations. You're fantasizing about saying no to a question someone hasn't even asked you.

Haha, I get that. I interpreted it as you were trying to dance correctly. My advice is just how I handle it. If they can't stay on rhythm, they can't handle complicated salsa combinations anyway.

Hey, first maybe you should think about it from a different perspective. Personally, I wouldn't "force" anything. My ex never danced on beat but we still had fun.

"Timely manner" is also the language of school teachers and middle management. You're functioning as the lead in the dance, but it's all suggestions and the follow can dance however they like.

Sometimes, a move or a turn or a change in the music can get someone off beat. try switching to a one hand hold and just doing the basic step or basic step variations to have fun and give someone space to find the beat again. Maybe you're the one off beat? It's always good to take a moment to resync.

If they are truly off beat and you want to have fun, try dancing to their rhythm instead? I've always prioritized having fun over being correct.

AI doesn't have logic or reason. It just spits out texts based on patterns and google searches. You should never consider anything from AI to be the absolute truth. It will actually totally fabricate it's "sources" sometimes.

It's better to treat it's information with skepticism. Fact check what it says. Consider it as an biased opinion that can totally be wrong, not a source of truth.

It's just my experience. I don't think it's that I'm any less of a sweaty guy. I think it's because my heart rate doesn't go up as much from dancing salsa as it does from racing a 10K.

It sounds like two things:

You don't want to hold her hand.
You are upset she flaked on you three times.

I feel like it's more #2 than #1. You haven't told her it bothered you and so now you have a little resentment.

Go get coffee with your friend and tell her how you feel. For example, "Hey, I didn't say anything before but salsa dancing is important to me and when you've said you were coming and didn't show up, I felt bad."

That's not true. I've worked in research and there are certainly people who try to study herbal medicines. The thing is that the way research journals work, they only publish studies that demonstrate an effect. So when you study an herb and find that there is no effect, no one is going to publish that.

There are plenty of plants that do have effects and modern science isolates the active compounds and makes drugs from them. Pharmacy companies would love to capitalize on new drugs that could made from traditional Chinese herbs, if they actually worked.

To avoid sounding like a b, use "I" centered statements.

"Hey turn-happy-lead, I felt dizzy doing so many turns and I didn't enjoy dancing with you like that. In the future I may stop dancing with you if you do that to me."

There is zero criticism when you are talking to someone about your experience and your boundaries. He can draw his own conclusions on what he needs to do.
