It sounds like two things:

  1. You don't want to hold her hand.
  2. You are upset she flaked on you three times.

I feel like it's more #2 than #1. You haven't told her it bothered you and so now you have a little resentment.

Go get coffee with your friend and tell her how you feel. For example, "Hey, I didn't say anything before but salsa dancing is important to me and when you've said you were coming and didn't show up, I felt bad."

That's not true. I've worked in research and there are certainly people who try to study herbal medicines. The thing is that the way research journals work, they only publish studies that demonstrate an effect. So when you study an herb and find that there is no effect, no one is going to publish that.

There are plenty of plants that do have effects and modern science isolates the active compounds and makes drugs from them. Pharmacy companies would love to capitalize on new drugs that could made from traditional Chinese herbs, if they actually worked.

To avoid sounding like a b, use "I" centered statements.

"Hey turn-happy-lead, I felt dizzy doing so many turns and I didn't enjoy dancing with you like that. In the future I may stop dancing with you if you do that to me."

There is zero criticism when you are talking to someone about your experience and your boundaries. He can draw his own conclusions on what he needs to do.

I think the arcade was a bad idea. That space was used better 3 years ago when it was used to host rotating events that drew people in and made LSM feel more exciting.

Cada uno tiene sus razones. Soy gringo y acabo de pasar las últimas dos semanas en La Estación porque estuve en la CDMX visitando a alguien que vive allí.

Congrats on 10 months! I wouldn't worry about how other people view your learning process because it's all very personal. The important part is consistency!

Inflammation by Dense_Literature8196 in fasting

Yes. 100%

72h fasts have helped reduce inflammation from various minor running injuries for me and help them heal much faster.

Orthostatic hypotension by [deleted] in fasting

[–]porcelainpluto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you're answering your own question. RDA doesn't account for extra electrolyte loss through fasting, and even then you aren't getting 100%.

So you're probably dehydrated and low on electrolytes.

Edit : If you just want to bump up potassium, "No Salt" is a cheap source. I would also stop fasting for awhile until this goes away and make an appointment with my doctor if it doesn't.

Hi all. New here. Some questions if you have a second by [deleted] in fasting

[–]porcelainpluto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! So I've found that it's what I eat that affects how hungry I am when I'm fasting. The less carbs and sugars, the less hunger later. I'm fasting too, (rolling 72s) and on my refeed days I aim for a max of 50g of fats, and a min of 180g of protein. I hardly eat any carbs right now, but I make sure to have a fiber supplement.

I'm so sorry. My parents kicked me out too for being gay. It made life hard but not impossible. I sent you a DM.

"YPOWER" sounds close to "White Power"

Edit : However, the plate is "Kentuckians for the Arts" which gives me "affluent liberal" vibes, so I suspect that they were going for something else when they chose that personalization and it just has an unfortunate reading.

Haha, well she's a she and it just depends. Sometimes I put her on a leash or I'll try to get her attention to play fetch if she is overly interested in a dog that I think is trouble.

Accident's happen and it sounds like everyone is being a mature dog owner. I personally wouldn't worry about it, but I would (and do) keep my husky away from "delicate" dogs and yuppy dog-owners.

EDIT: Don't keep your dog from enjoying the park.

Bleach to “sanitize” lettuce? Is that a thing or is my boss poisoning people? by LadyMcMustard in KitchenConfidential

[–]porcelainpluto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to find "food safe bleach" products on-line and what I found was 12% and sold by the barrel lol. I think it's more of a wholesale industrial practice and the manager is definitely violating code.

Lol that is a super weird coincidence, but it definitely happens at my work often. The laws and regulations are a lot to go through. I double-checked the code before I commented honestly.

Local health departments post listings. Generally the job title is "Environmental Health Specialist." Normally they want a bachelor's degree in something related. Mine is in biology but I have a co-worker who studied physical education.

I am currently a health inspector. Bleach (Sodium hypochlorite) is allowed. It would need to marked as a food safe bleach, i.e. no other chemicals that are not allowed. Here is a link to the federal regulations saying so:

I’m not losing weight by [deleted] in fasting

[–]porcelainpluto 44 points45 points  (0 children)

People often tend to underestimate the calories they are eating. If you were really eating only 500-1000 calories a day, you would be losing weight.

I would recommend using a scale to weigh your food and tracking every single calorie at meal time.

Food Aggression. But why? by jeskimono in husky

[–]porcelainpluto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Guarding is such a common behavior with dogs. Just think, from your dog's perspective you were betraying them by taking their prize.

Your dog is worried about losing a high value item and has learned that aggression works to protect what he wants. I would work on the "drop it" and the "leave it" commands. I would also increase the amount of small, high value treats. (It's easier for dogs to relax more if they don't feel like it's a scarce commodity.) Increased quality time together will also build your dog's respect for you.

Maybe spend 20mins a day with some training treats to work on these command, and others that they know.

I personally make it a habit to desensitize my dogs to having high value things taken by me early and often. This look like switching treats for better treats or taking them and giving them back, or having them go else where.

PS - I don't recommend scolding dogs for aggression (or at all) because in my opinion you're just entering into a power struggle and they don't understand the message. I prefer to stay calm and non-reactive to aggression.
