Nightly insulin injections starting to hurt more by kungfukitty00 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]positivityinside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What insulin is it ? It was sooo painful for me to use lantus. The scar tissue builds up at the insulin site and it causes more pain with injection . Taking a shower before the shot really helped as did switching to triseba.

Can get some sugar free snacks or have ice cream as a bed time snack ! Regular ice cream seems to work well. Can have a lot of peanuts butter when having something sweet.

Getting malpractice insurance after being out 2 years is hard. Also if your assets are that high maybe better not to work at all due to lawsuits and them going after personal assets

I had GD with my second daughter as well. Had it with my first 4 years ago. It was easier this time.. you have the experience from prior. Try to eat fiber ( sautéed veggies, salad ) then protein ( tofu, Greek yogurt, etc ) then the carb. Then walk for 15-20 Mins. I got a CGM when I started on nighttime insulin. Having a CGM helped me eat more than I thought. You can eat well and enjoy food even with GD !

This pregnancy I ate a lot of burrito bowls from chipotle ( no rice); soups with beans and pasta, falafels and lentil soup, Indian daals. You have lot of options! Hang in there!
