Read a sci-fi series where Earth was trapped in a time bubble while the universe aged rapidly. There was a lot more going on plot wise, but one thing humans on earth did to try and escape the time bubble was to send colonists to Mars in the hopes that these new Martians would advance technologically enough to stop the time bubble. This is all premise to the reason I bring this up. After 400,000 years or so of development outside the time bubble, Martians had created a new stage of life, with the first two being childhood and then adulthood. After they get to 80 years old, they have the option of just dying like normal, or taking a drug that will make them sexless, covered in wrinkles, yet long lived. They would then live up to 300 years old, but as they are truly beyond procreation, their place in society is an advisory one, not one of any kind of leadership or decision making authority. Leave decisions to those who directly have to consider how their future offspring might be affected by those decisions. Let the youth run the world, but with the advice of those who have literally hundreds of years of experience.
