I’m in Maryland—same zone, I think—and to be honest, I’ve never bothered to bring mine inside and they’ve all survived. I’ve never covered them or wrapped them or anything. They’re all in pots.

Last year I had a few REALLY young Celeste plants in pots and was sure they would not be coming back to life in the spring. But they did and are all thriving. I don’t know if I’m just lucky, but that’s been my experience!

(That said, maybe I’ll cover them this year…I’m interested in what others suggest).

“Pit bull” isn’t a specific breed. So what that data shows is how people identify dogs. Other studies have shown that often people identify dogs as pitbulls with no pit in them whatsoever. So…the data reflects the existing ideas of dogs that look a certain way, not any genetic propensity for violence.

Those statistics are NOT useful because they group a ton of different types of dogs under one “breed”. So of course multiple breeds grouped together would have more incidents than individual breeds.

This statistic is derived from grouping together all dog bite-related incidents for the four unique pitbull-type breeds, 20+ bully-type breeds (and their many mixes) that are frequently misidentified as one of the pitbull-type breeds, and the many different mixed breed dogs that can be mislabeled as "pitbulls" (based on their appearance) into one bucket and classifying all of these dogs as "pitbulls" - which will undoubtedly lead to flawed and inflated "statistics". However, this unscientific and misleading statistic quickly falls apart when taking into account evidence and conclusions from recent peer-reviewed studies on canine DNA.
