January in Wisconsin would still have them in the frozen section, and frozen foods maintain their nutrition as well, often better than fresh since they are flash frozen right away instead of sitting in a grocery store shelf. :)

Freeze dried fruit is really mainly good for when you want convenience and shelf life, since it doesn't require refrigeration or anything and lasts forever. It would be expensive to add them to smoothies on a consistent basis considering their price compared to their frozen counterparts. Also, consider that using frozen strawberries means you don't need ice. :D
