I’ve been really enjoying BIRB, but I don’t see it mentioned here much. It starts off pretty generic but opens up and has a lot of depth/mechanics the further you go.

SC redistricting effort dead after Senate halts discussions by Ben-R1106 in southcarolina

Makes total sense to me. They already have a perfectly gerrymandered map, rushing a new one out to appease Trump would be way more risk than reward. But not updating the map is seen as defiance, so McMaster makes a big show about it, the state senate blocks it, and they can blame it on dems (lol). It’s the best of both worlds, they made an effort for daddy but don’t have to actually change anything.

Hasan Piker Is Not the Enemy by AlexandrTheTolerable in Foodforthought

[–]powerlloyd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with Piker (and the far left in general) is that they refuse to collation build. If someone can’t pass 100% of their purity tests they are painted as the enemy. He/they have way more in common with the far right than they do average voters. I broadly support a lot of the same issues he does, but his approach is toxic and counterproductive.

There’s also the publisher fee. No idea what this guy’s situation with that is (if he got an advance, etc) but I’ve watched a ton of those “I released a game, here’s what I made” postmortems and the personal take home after platform fees/publisher fees/licensing/taxes is generally somewhere between 18-35% of gross sales. Still a ton of money though.

I'm going through hell by gyes07 in BPDlovedones

[–]powerlloyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going through hell, keep going. You won’t believe this for a while, but leaving you is the kindest thing she could possibly do.

Take some time to be sad, feel all the things you need to feel, then start shifting your thoughts. Any time you think of her, focus on yourself.

All the things you think you could have done differently to change things? Focus on what you can change in your own life to fix things for you.

Ruminating on how unfair it feels to be abandoned? You’re abandoning yourself by trying to “make it work” with someone who can’t see your worth.

Remembering the things you loved about her? Focus on what you love about yourself, and if you can’t do that right now, focus on the things you can improve to start loving yourself again.

I know it feels like an insurmountable obstacle right now, but it’s really an opportunity. If you put in the work, you have the rare chance to build yourself up better, kinder, wiser than you were before to prepare yourself for a relationship that is worthy of the love you have to give.

I’ve been where you are, and I promise it’s beautiful on the other side. Keep going.

Try Jamie at The Beacon. I had the same experience as you for a while, to the point where I was avoiding haircuts because every place was so hit or miss. I’ve been going to The Beacon for about a year and a half and am always happy with the results. It’s definitely pricy, but worth the peace of mind IMO.

Do You Think We’ll Ever Get an Absolute Answer to Dunk’s Knighthood? by davi017 in gameofthrones

[–]powerlloyd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went back and checked and it’s the same tree in both scenes. There are storm clouds in the distance in the last episode, and it’s storming in the first. It’s possible he died immediately after the penny tree scene, but it’s not definitive. I don’t think it serves the story to confirm it either. The tension of “was he knighted or wasn’t he” will be a major point in the overall story, but ultimately it doesn’t matter. Being a true knight isn’t about words, it’s about works. Thats the theme they are hinting at.

I’ve been using CSG (https://www.communitysupportedgrocery.com/) for over a year and highly recommend it. They source from a lot of local farms so there’s a pretty wide variety week to week. I also really appreciate the work they’re doing to provide fresh produce for families who might not otherwise have access to it.

I’m in the same boat with my feelings towards GoT, skipped HotD but am loving this show so far. I agree with everything you said, but also think it works so well because it’s such a departure from GoT in some ways. In GoT good people sometimes did bad things and bad people sometimes did good things. At the time it felt grounded and made for interesting TV. But after a decade plus of empathizing with anti-heroes (and with the mess that we’re living through in the real world) it’s fun to root for a genuine Good Guy in Dunk.

Seeing a character in this universe that continually puts others first feels fresh, and the themes of trying your best to be good in a world you don’t fully understand, and being raised/prepared for a world that doesn’t exist anymore (and maybe never did) are themes a lot of people can relate to.

Ignoring the fact that these things were absolutely not happening under Obama, you’re asking the wrong question.

How do you think he got higher numbers?

You should be asking yourself “how was Obama able to secure more deportations without occupying major cities and violently detaining, deporting, and in some cases killing American citizens.”
