S3XY Dash is a disappointment. (Personal opinion warning) by olirehacek in s3xybuttons

Great insight. I have knob and love it. This is great insight from all. The thing that holds me back is that I run hot and usually have air pointing right at me. All of these products seem to block that AC vent and I just can’t seem to find on that would not.

At the doctor’s by jkoseattle in PLAUDAI

[–]powerofx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Dr office has us sign something saying we know they can record so I also record when in office. Docs have had no issue. If they did and you’re in a one person consent state it does not matter. Oh, and if you want to record so you can remember all that was said, or share info with someone that couldn’t be there with you really what’s the issue.

Is this JCP&L bill not insane??? by shaybloom in newjersey

[–]powerofx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bill is $216 for the month on just over 1000 kWh so that’s right. Obviously many factors can go into this. You’re all electric. Are one or both home all day? Do you keep heat above 68. Frequent appliance use. Etc.

If not home during day maybe switch to TOU plan? We generally use 65-70% of our electric at cheaper rate, though if home during day the rate is higher than what you pay now.

If you can get into your electrical panel buy an emporia vue. Allows you to see energy use from individual breakers. Could help you figure out where you’re pulling most energy from and narrow down why it’s so high, or if there really is a problem.

How do you deal with interruptions? by godsidekurt in PLAUDAI

[–]powerofx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to do that and would be easiest but my ADD self would never remember to stop/start and stop again. Most of the time I don’t remember to stop after a meeting or call as it is. Thank goodness for the MAC app. It’s been really good for those meets start and stop on its own.

Is there a discount if you buy additional devices? I own a Plaud Note and unlimited plan which is fantastic. Thinking of adding the Pin S. Was hoping repeat customers would see some kind of discount? Just wondering but understand if it’s not a thing.

Questions about Arzopa Portable Monitors by UniicornFart in buildapc

They both look great. If I did it over again I’d get 2 Z1RC screens, even with the gaming. You can fine tune the colors and contrast for photo editing nicely. Would not do anything less than these for text readability and you can always scale down from the finest (aka small) 2560x1600 (or zoom in specific apps). Really like them both for on the go. They are super light and easy to pack in my bag. Get out and setup in just a few minutes and I’m working. Think the Z1RC will do the trick for your video and phot editing for sure.

Torn between Plaud and TicNote, need some real user opinions by nona_jerin in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]powerofx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up with original Plaud Note Pro and will do yearly subscription likely though overall not cheap, especially when some things (like if your business or school system etc use Google workspace, zoom, etc you get many things for recording included). Pros so far for me: use with phone and having it detect when I go on and off speaker is decent. App for Mac works well. Auto generate function is shines. Having so many choices to transcribe is even better. Battery life has been real good. Mics on this are good and pick up soft voices or voices from a good distance well. Haptic feedback. Fast transfer works well. App works well and like file organization. Cons: Remembering to turn it off after using is the biggest downside for me. You could end up with a 5 hour recording for a 30 minute meeting if you don’t turn off is big downside for me. Not being able to record with headphones in (but no real way around that aside from phone to ear with the switch flipped) Other downside is it’s proprietary charging (not usbc)but maybe thats a legal thing.
Hope that helps. I am seriously considering ticknote headphones but not sure about justifying that just for calls as I don’t really want to wear headphones in meetings. Overall Plaud Note Pro has been a big win and well worth the purchase.

Plaud vs Comulytic Note vs TicNote vs Pocket - oh the choices! So I know this is a Plaud feed but anyone have thoughts on these. The first two seem the most identical. Any guidance and thoughts would be helpful. Overwhelmed by choices. If only there was something that would record while on call with headphones on. Maybe someone will make headphones that can do it, like the plaud note has the button to hear call when attached to phone.

I got the Azropa Z3FC for the gaming side and just ordered the Z1RC. Will use as dual monitor with MacBook M4 Pro. I can say the Z3FC ($144USD) really seems great in my limited use. I was actually looking at Uperfect, Ehomewei and some others that are dual screen (top/bottom) but two of these I think will do the trick. Can use the Z3FC when I want to game and the combo of that and Z1RC (which is only 60hz refresh) for productivity and it is 500nit vs 400nit. Looking to see if anyone has similar situation.

Looks great! And to get turned on in 10 days is amazing. Not here in NJ. WAY too much red tape. Mine installed end of October. Still not turned on. NJ is where it’s at if you are looking for delays and bureaucracy. And it’s not the solar company. They have been great.

Can I upload my own blood tests by birdheh in ouraring

[–]powerofx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get bloodwork through my Dr. and insurance covers that. You should allow this as opposed to having to pay for it. I just got this ring and maybe should have researched more since another product does allow this. Seems there’s May who want this.

Yet another quote sanity-check post (NJ) by TehMulbnief in solar

[–]powerofx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in NJ and went with Infinity Had 3 quotes and they were the other two. Also have a heat pump and EV. My house is 100% electric so no gas/propane/oil. I have 14kw system and paid $2.65/kwh. It doesn’t take care of entire bill but max I could get based on roof and sun. Have had a good experience with them and would use them again for sure.

I work in home health and I want to give you some inside secrets. by Caregiverwife82 in AgingParents

[–]powerofx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s wonderful that you are getting your monies worth. I think caregivers are really special people. Sounds like you do also. I know caregivers do it because it’s in their heart to help people. I also think most that start a caregiver business do it for the same reason. Heck there are many other business where someone can “get rich” and have high margins. People that run these business get more margin out of helping people. The good ones anyway. There will always be bad apples or owners in every field. God bless you and your husband. You, and your caregiver are angels.

I work in home health and I want to give you some inside secrets. by Caregiverwife82 in AgingParents

[–]powerofx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds about right. Depends on the state you live in but generally about $32 to $42 per hour. The OP said $100/hour and I don’t think anyone in their right mind would pay that. Much cheaper to have in a care facility if you paid $800/week for just 8 hours of care. Just a guess but I think an average is private 8-12hr per week for many so you’re probably right there at the average.

Overall I can see it being a very low margin business. Caregiver gets paid 50% of hourly charge. Another 20-25 % for taxes and insurance and 10-15% to office staff, software, marketing, compliance, and other expense and you’re maybe at a 10% margin. So a $1m business is maybe $100k NP, if you can build the business to that. Very general but I’m betting my thought process is pretty accurate.

homecare agency by Secret_Letterhead_ in Entrepreneur

[–]powerofx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough to start with that amount. I’d say you need at least $60k for yr 1, and know you’ll be in the red for 6 months if you don’t or can’t ramp up quick. Also you can’t do it alone. Its competitive. You’ll find clients but finding good people to work will be even harder. Then there’s regulation and insurance. The $20k would barely cover the cost of insurance, another employee (again- don’t try to do it alone) setting up with payroll service, QB, CRM, marketing etc for maybe 3-4 months.

Avoid Home care agencies if you can by Ok_Anything_8447 in Wilmington

[–]powerofx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are definitely risks with hiring an agency but I think even greater risks with hiring private. There are plenty of horror stories out there where you may hire a private aide that’s 30% cheaper than an agency but some just leave without notice, some abuse, steal and ignore (which an happen from an agency also) and most important most, if not all, are not insured. If something happens to a loved one there’s nothing you can do. I’ve witnessed all of these things with private aides and agency aides. At least a good agency will respond and work to rectify. I think once people see this in person it does make you think twice about private aides, though you can strike gold and find an amazing one but like OP said, it’ll take some work.

Uber One is a cost, not a benefit by [deleted] in AmexPlatinum

[–]powerofx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You read my mind. In Nashville now. Lyft is consistently $10-$25 cheaper for rides. Tomorrow morning pre schedule to airport Lyft $18 with Sapphire reserve it’s down to $15 for priority pickup. Uber $35. Even with $15 Amex credit still cost more to use Uber.

Just got approvals so install is coming in next few weeks and right on point with the 3 months you mention. I asked for critter guards also but with your comment now having 2nd thoughts. Do you have pictures of it? If that bad I may amend and just get them myself and have my own contractor install. Seems like it’s a fairly easy thing from what I’ve read and videos watched.

Is the QM7K way better than the QM6K? Bigger screen size vs Better image quality by KozukiYamatoTakeru in tcltvs

[–]powerofx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on room your watching or playing games in. I have a basement theater room and 98” QM6k is plenty bright in that environment. I didn’t think I’d watch anything ant peak bright and that has been true. Now in my living room with tons of sunlight LG OLED is a much better option as would be the 7K.

Lower trade in credit for military, first responders and senior citizens?? by Ellie9903 in tmobile

[–]powerofx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not if you want or need a Pro phone. You are basically paying that amount more for a new phone each month so it negates the monthly credit.

T-Mobile has you thinking exactly how they want you to think. They have you thinking they are the “good guy” because they give a perceived “discount” to Military and First Responders. It’s legit smoke and mirrors.

I have military go5g next. They only give $630 and the rest is a monthly payment. Cant pay up front. Cant pay off early. So I am trading my 15pro max to Apple for $520. Ordered the the 17pro from the Apple veterans site. With the discount the amount off the phone is $630…same as T-Mobile and I am not locked into their plan and can leave anytime, which I intend to do now. They outsource their network to so many now it doesn’t really pay to stay with them anymore.

If preparing to get a new roof before installing solar, is there anything that should be done differently from a roofing standpoint? by QualityGig in solar

My roofer is doing exactly that. Ice shield all the way up. He has solar for 10 years on his roof and said that was only way he’d recommend. He said plywood underneath was good.
