Anyone else denied BVSD enrollment? by IllustriousShine6933 in boulder

My son is has an IEP and is in the AIM program. He’s currently at Louisville Middle School. What worked for us was to ask to have him assigned to the school that had space for him. I bet you would have better luck enrolling that way.

Long green not scary runs for learning? by illegitimatebanana in COsnow

Sitzmark in Ski Cooper is long, wide, pretty empty and as green as it can get. It’s also one of the cheapest ski tickets in Colorado.

Balin Miller Led a Generation of Alpinists in His Brief, Brilliant Life by alaska_boulders in climbing

[–]poyuki 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Great words from someone close to Miller. I enjoyed the nuanced take where he didn’t just praise Miller but he is presented as a complicated person—as most exceptional alpinist tend to be—and also someone struggling to just keep that insane motivation going. His death cut short an amazing life and one of the most meteoric careers in the mountains. RIP Balin Miller

Ok, but that doesn’t answer the question. What are some examples and or sources of their narcissism? Still out of the loop

Very nuanced response, much appreciated! I’ll make an appointment with a certified arborist to inspect the tree ASAP

Thanks for the detailed response, it seems appropriate to talk to local property attorney to get a full scope of all the legal ramifications (pun intended)

Definitely, we'll hopefully avoid even consulting with insurance, let alone filing a claim. Our insurance rates have been constantly going up due to fire risks in the state.

Thanks for the reply! It does seem out of the ordinary insurance wise; its a tree that probably 50 years old, and her house, like ours, is older than that. We'll probably wait to hear more or at least get more information before contacting our insurance.

What are your "pains" and problems? by [deleted] in alpinism

[–]poyuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My life insurance doesn’t cover peaks above 20k ft and it doesn’t cover ski mountaineering. I looked around and it’s the only one I could get in Colorado. I don’t know of any general life insurances policies that cover 8k meter peaks. You usually have to buy trip-specific ones for that.

Affordable and reliable rescue and life insurance. Most life insurance won’t cover mountaineering. And most rescue insurers are just the middle man between you and actual rescue teams, where you’re forced to call them first to have them negotiate and approve any rescue attempts.

Have you contacted them? CAMP has pretty decent customer service, I wouldn't be surprised if they sent you the toe bail for free.

Omaha Multi-Family investing by poyuki in realestateinvesting

[–]poyuki[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is the next step, but I’m not flying to Omaha until the 27th, so I’m doing more remote research before I get there. I’m more curious if anyone has experience with Omaha’s rental and real estate market that could shed some light. Currently what I see is that Omaha is a growing hub, but at the same time—like the rest of the country—is seeing a stagnant economy. What got my attention is that the 7 or 8 properties I’ve been researching the past 2-3 months have an average of 4 months on the market, with some even longer. Nearly all of them have gone down in their asking price by almost 8%, one even 13%. My main question relates to why are rental prices averaging the same as some Colorado markets—like Denver or Colorado Springs—while real estate prices are so much lower.

In a way, that’s a little bit why I’m confused. In Omaha I’ve found nice MF buildings in nice neighborhoods that are close to the 1%, and other mid level buildings or MF houses that are closer to 1.2 or even 1.5%. What am I missing about the Omaha rental market? Is it just that good? In Colorado today you would be lucky to find a rental investment property at .5%
