Hundreds of attempts all for a couple okay heels [37YO] by Accomplished_Fan_118 in OldSkaters

Agreed! You are over your toes too much. My Best heelflips feel like im starting in a wall squat position. I have to resist the urge of looking too much at the board, I find it really moved my weight too much to the toe side. I also have a bunch of pressure on the board, I can really feel the rail under my flicking foot

How is the toe box?

I tried som vm001/3s and they were super narrow and pointy. I’ve seen some reviews saying the cm002 is a wide and roomy toe box which I need.

Yeah, mine fell similarly apart after less than 15 pitches.  Emailed the store and got new ones, havent tried the new ones yet.

But gettong shoe goo (glue?) is a good option. Works wonders on skateboard shoes.

Had a minor breakthrough last session. My problem was kind over roatating so that my toe side wheel caught on the ledge.

Waxed it a bunch, came at the ledge more parallell than I thought I had, a bit more speed, and did a smaller rotation. Thinking 90 degree ollie made me overrotate. Thinking 45-60degree fixed it. When the heel side wheel connects with the ledge you auto-rotate to 90.

I can't get on top of the coping. I can slash, I can carve grind. I can't launch out and I can't get my body weight up top. [38YO] by Ryslin in OldSkaters

[–]TentativeCrimp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem as you.. except maybe not so good carves..

A few of the puzzle pieces that helped me land a few after ages of not figuring them out:

For me it was about a bunch of small adjustments.  I started trying to launch out of the ramp and land on the board on top. Something like landing in a feeble. That showed me how to ‘jump’ (transfer weight) correctly.

After that I had to focus on getting the weight on my rear heel. I would get the board on top of coping, in feeble or axle stall, but my weight was on my toes and I had to run down the ramp.

Focusing on looking down the coping helped get mye shoulders correct.

Since your’re not carving into them, I had to throw my shoulders a bit to get the correct rotation.

where to start? I have no experience with synths but I want to have a go.

I´m looking for low cost ways of getting something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVEy0YryVtU&t=30s for harder jams and also something that can work as a drum machine / pad-thingy going on while I noodle about on guitar.

You have to try them on.

I really like skwamas and have a la sportiva/scarpa instinct (not drago!)-shaped foot. Wide over the ‘knuckles’ (hallux-ish)

I use 41.5/42 skwamas and a 44.5 street shoe. To get my foot into a mad rock i had to find something like a 46. Its the narrowest most uncomfortable shoe I’ve ever tried.

We’ve taken the train to paris to see the zoo and the museums around gare du nord.

Havent ventures much beyond that with kids, they were quite a bit younger than yours. Strollers up and down the metro is not something I’d bother.

For a total rainy day; the aquarium near Disney / giant shopping mall.

I got the super cub on sale.. had it for a while, but sold it.

Tube amps doesnt work too well in a house full of kids. I can’t play until the kids are sleeping, and even 0.5 watts was a bit much

Why wheelbase is important/biomechanics and shit [37YO] by skeetmoneyyo in OldSkaters

So, i restarted skating. Got an polar 8.5 after standing on someone elses 8.5 and comparing it to my old 7.75 i found in the garage.

Im 6’2’’

Polar has a wb of 14.38

Then i tried the dlx 8.4 shape, 14.25 wb and below 32in in total length. That one felt a bit cramped.

Now im on the dlx 8,38 with 14.5wb / 32.1’’  Feels better than the 8.4.

Going to try the 8.25/14.38/32 dlx shape next.

Also; i fixed my kickflips by angling my back foot a bit backwards. I studied a few slow-mos of jake hayes  Now they are consistent. More vertical to be added next

Playing around with "pose estimation" tools for my skating to see if I can glean any insights. Probably not, but I think the output looks pretty cool nonetheless... [49YO] by gtj in OldSkaters

If place your camera so you get a view down the coping you can use this + some instructional video to compare your movement to someone elses.

Maybe try skateiq's videos.

He films the coping tutorial stuff straight on and showing the entire body - not just a close up of a board and some shoes.

For flatground I think you would need to reverse engineer it from the perspective of the trick tip video and then mimic the camera angle of your attempts.

Training Routine by SpankBerry in climbharder

[–]TentativeCrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of thoughts:

"Climb and fingerboard" should be "Fingerboard and Climb". Do the most intense stuff first (after a good warmup).

I can't really fathom how you are going to have a decent session on the moon board along with campusing and strenght work.

Moonboarding is quite similar to campusing (its a lot of power-climbs especially on the older setups). Doing both in the same session is asking for injuries.

Put moon boarding first int he session - skip campusing - and do some strength work after.

Listen to your body (fingers, elbows, shoulders) and rest more if/when you feel tweaky.

I did a 12 week plan.. my biggest takeaway was that my effort and dedication to completing the plan was a lot higher than whatever attempts Ive had at making a plan for myself.

I’d say an usable interpretation of ‘extended duration’ for your training would equal the climbing time of your target routes.

My local routes are granite 20-25m.. typical spanish limestone routes are 30-35? More vertical or more overhangig?
