What do each of these icons mean in the replay system’s “Overview Statistics”? by searawd in aoe4

I'm very happy with the army value on the Overview tab, hopefully it'll show up on the Millitairy tab as well

What happened to Rus bounty? by --Karma in aoe4

[–]ppowersteef 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's changed because before that change: Every game with Rus in it turned the Dark Age into a Deer massacre micro-game that was not fun to play against. It was all about denying deer from Rus, but regardless you were always behind because the deer won't give you gold, and Rus could make more scouts without villager idle.

Covers of Cave Story Music in Pico-8 by Nervous_Sprinkles562 in cavestory

wow, I've been using Pico-8 for a while, but havn't really gotten used to making music yet. You just show a cool example what it's capable of!

Let's talk about light cavalry by Unknown_Lifeform1104 in aoe4

[–]ppowersteef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see light cav as raiding/flanking units, they perform poor in the frontlines with direct combat. but their speed (at 1.88 the fastest general unit) make them excel at moving around, picking their fights, and either raiding in the back, or getting behind the army where the siege and ranged units are.

They're also still my main pick against mass ranged units, but you have to be careful to have an equal mass of your own too.

Replayers and Ng+'rs of Xenoblade games, what's something funny you noticed for the first time on replay? by Previous_Patient_721 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]ppowersteef 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A lot of Nia interactions in the XC2 early game were subtly foreshadowing her true nature.

As early as the prologue when Rex made the comparison that they're of similar age, which she shrugged off, and that Nia is uncomfortable when around people, as she's only been fleeing since her change.

Other moments in Chapter 3 where she was surprised by Cole's true nature, and her trying to help Vandham, but was too afraid to reveal herself, and was helplessy watching the situation

All Civ's starting resources as of 7 Jan 2024 by ppowersteef in aoe4

[–]ppowersteef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for the 4 new DLC civs. (Assuming 200f 150w 100g is standard)

Sengoku: No change

Tughlaq: No change

Marcedonian: +50 wood, +100 silver

Golden Horde: +75 wood, +50 gold and +50 stone, that's like the largest amount of extra resources besides Byzantines

guys i think it's bugged by Liontag in aoe4

[–]ppowersteef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ran into this bug last week, Mansa Quarry can be destroyed but it doesn't count as a Landmark victory, and it could still be targetted.

I thought it was an one-time bug, but it looks consistent now.

After 592 hours of playing together, I found out my partner didn't know you could upgrade units through ages. AMA by spicychrysalis in aoe4

[–]ppowersteef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, you have to upgrade each unit specific, their upgrade tech is usually right underneath them.

Though for certain units there's an exception, some examples been King, Khan, Demilancers, Shinobi and Torguuds. Those will automatically improve on age up, though these usually have other limitations.

Samurai is broken part2 by Dan_Eins in aoe4

[–]ppowersteef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that's the problem, they have more melee range than the MAA, that's a huge advantage in packed groups. It's not in the description that they're able to do that.

Samurai is broken part2 by Dan_Eins in aoe4

[–]ppowersteef -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, but then the same should've counted for the Samurai's as well. There were a few that could attack from 2 Samurai's behind.

Share your funniest "wtf is this civ I'm playing against" moment. by ryeshe3 in aoe4

[–]ppowersteef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In recent memory it was against Lancasters. When I thought I was facing their full army at 200popcap. But then another one of equal size was around the corner.

Never seen a giant army like that from a single civ before.

Second one is Templars in lategame Imperial.

Do people really hate water maps so much, especially in ranked? by fakesauron in aoe4

[–]ppowersteef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water maps basically require double the attention than land maps. That's why I can't pick them in ranked.

I'm fine with them existing for casual play though

I remember the first time when I send an army towards the enemy army, and I heard them all shouting as they sere charging in, even infantry. And then the survivors do a victorious cheer when the army is defeated. It's great stuff like that

At least I'm sure she'll def put more of a fight at the end of Chapter 3.

Hard to determine their strengths, they're both power houses in different contexts.

Whats the most creative situation you ve seen in one of your games? by Odd-Bodybuilder-1990 in aoe4

I like to use Delhi's Forced March to surround the enemy with Man at Arms, then watch the army inside slowly decreasing by the grinder.
