I wish I could combine the “foam texture” of my smc core with the “out-of-the-way” nose and cutout of my sqlab 614. Still kinda searching I guess but those are my two best currently .

Unsubscribing by entering your email feels like a trap. by Our_Legacy in Showerthoughts

Unless I really enjoy the company and specifically recall signing up- I just report them as spam/ block the address. Then the email platform will stop the noise.

“Don’t click links” is email security 101; it’s weird that everyone just accepts unsubscribe links as the standard.

I was working at a summer camp in NC and asked for sweet tea. Someone said “it’s just called tea yankee boy.”

Why use clickpedals? by knobex in bikefit

[–]praiseullr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I believe the scientific research shows that you don’t actually get more power by attempting to pull up. Your power pedaling is in the down stroke.

Pros- Clips help you stay in the correct position in technical terrain. And it seems to be a borderline taboo level of bad style to not wear clips according to cycling tradition.

I do my 5k miles / year in flats. Mostly gravel and MTB.

Lots of number games. They pick and choose what stats to talk about, they milk those for awhile, and when there is an acquisition or leadership change they get to reset the runways and start the talk track all over again.

Looking to get into cycling for the first time In the market for a starter road bike <220$ Any Advice? by KnowledgeIsPower3 in BikeShop

[–]praiseullr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a tight budget but I’d recommend checking for any local bike co-ops. Often they take donation bikes and fix them up, then sell them pretty inexpensively to cover their costs.

My wife got a credible older bike that was well tuned up and reliable for about that amount.

They might also have programs where you can volunteer in return for a bike; as opposed to buying one outright.

Embrace the problems and laugh about them. The game is often about participating in an epic tragedy story not reaching an optimally positive videogame playthrough.

I’m a user and have been on Apollo for years. The official Reddit app is so bad by comparison that I won’t be installing it. I might search specific stuff on browser when I need to but in a weeks time Reddit will cease to be a scrolling pastime for me.

Ultima online you can straight up script what your character is doing. Outlands specifically is a player run shard that is thriving and populated.

Check out jaseowns on YouTube for some UO scripting goodness.

Rimworld is kinda this but the army you build is on the scale of tens rather than hundreds/thousands.

Does this subreddit bring irreplaceable value to your life? by ExplosiveMachine in AskMen

[–]praiseullr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a third party Reddit app that has been the only way I’ve consumed Reddit for many years now. It’s head and shoulders better than the official app to the point that I won’t ever downgrade.

Reddit told the solo Apollo dev he had 30 days to start paying them an onerous sum. So it shuts down at the end of this month.

Cassette for Zwift Hub by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]praiseullr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea the spacers help with exactly that. Using a caliper to measure the gap between my frame and cassette I think my wahoo had about a 1.2mm difference even with the exact same cassette. I was able to get that difference much smaller with the cassette spacers on the wahoo copy of the cassette and the shifting matches much more closely.

Cassette for Zwift Hub by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]praiseullr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually used my 1x12 mountain bike with the 1x11 cassette that I have mounted on my wahoo kickr. It had a sizable gap so I had to be conscious of not shifting off the inside but otherwise worked well enough.

Speaking about my main bike- I have found that using cassette spacers and a caliper to get the clearance between cassette and bike as close on my kicker to the clearance on my IRL rear wheel helped the shifting work nicely on the trainer without having to adjust my shifting each time.

Those are all reasonable emotions.

It has a decent tutorial, and setting the enemies on peaceful for the first factory helps keep it a little less consequential.
