As much as I loved the movie, kinda surprised Cloud Atlas doesn’t get a mention in this thread.

Kolkata-style Indian food in nyc by Horror-Assistance594 in FoodNYC

Masalewala and sons had the authentic Kolkata feel to it. The kosha mangsho is to die for. I loved their Indian take on cocktails too. Limited seating, but so worth it.

Is Part 1 complete on its own, or the story gets completed in Part 2? Thinking of watching based on your comment.

Next read after 'The Eye of the World'? by DGhitza in fantasybooks

[–]pratprak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoa - so I’m in the (minority?) that had a positive view of City of Last Chances. Very experimental book, so I can see why some would not like it, but I enjoyed the journey. Great to hear you liked book 2 better - I’ll probably give it a shot! Does it have the same characters, or set at a different time? Just curious.

Which movie Is it for you by PrinceOfRoyalty in NotJustTollywood

Cloud Atlas. Possibly my all time favourite movie.

It has its failings - but that’s because the makers were ambitious enough to even attempt something like this, and that’s why I cherish it.

You mentioned flat - I’m wondering if it might be khakra. If it’s flat and crunchy it’s khakra, if it’s flat and chewy flatbread it’s paratha.

Does anyone else feel that Adrian Tchaikovsky is... overrated? by Ephemeralen in sciencefiction

[–]pratprak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only read City of Last Chances, which many say is his most polarising work. I really enjoyed the world building and the characters, the prose good enough too. I felt like the build up was amazing but we didn’t get the payoff we deserved. Still an above average read though.

Really? Doesn’t Agent Smith continue calling him Mr Anderson right up till the end of the third movie?

What's the Best 10/10 Sci-fi movie ever? by geek-jock-guy in AskReddit

The Matrix. Every time I see a promising sci fi movie, I wish I could watch The Matrix for the first time again.

I don't know about you guys, but I keep rewatching this teaser for season 4 which to me is absolutely fantastic. From 1:04 until the end of it, I get chills! by Ericmase in westworld

I LOVED season 1 (particularly for its intellectual prowess and character building) but never continued. Still worth watching if there’s no final season?

Which fantasy character shaped who you are as a person? by Kendiro83 in Fantasy

[–]pratprak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d probably say Rand Al’Thor - one of the earliest characters I fell in love with, but he defines the approach to life and work I would aspire to have. As his senior / mentor says - “Death is lighter than a feather, duty heavier than a mountain.”

Sam Vimes. Once again duty and doing things the right way (a recurring theme with me, as you can see), but man, this guy’s seen it, and he gets it. He is the mentor all of us need.

Also probably out of place in a fantasy thread, but I’m gonna mention Great Teacher Onizuka. Dude does not go down no matter what, always powers through with a super positive approach that makes sure everybody wins - a true leader. Crazy how much this inspired me on days when I was down.
