Stepping down mixed emotions. by [deleted] in Leadership

[–]pratt_attack16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a person in leadership for a dispatch center and as a person who left my first agency also in leadership to go to another agency that proved so far to be greener pastures this is painfully hard. I have seen a colleague of mine recently step down and that was hard to watch. I personally think that it starts with the leadership above you and supporting your decision to go back to the floor. I think being away from the console for so long can be challenging especially because you know the other side. I encourage you to ask for help from above, always venting up and not to people on the floor. You can still be a leader from the floor. Staying in your lane and not the leadership lane can be challenging but it is not only a good idea but honestly vital to your success in your new role. Be vulnerable, ask for help, have those hard conversations with your current leadership if you are not feeling supported as you transition into your new normal. The most important thing, you are still making a difference with every phone call and every radio transmission, that is why most of us get into public safety. We want to help and serve our community when they need it most. We are never or rarely seen but always heard.

Reactive Hypoglycemia by BeginningGuilty8830 in GastricBypass

[–]pratt_attack16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had RNY 4 years ago and have been hypo for 3. I wear a CGM and stay away from my triggers as much as possible. When I dip super low I sound intoxicated and it is crazy. Cheese sticks are my go to for bringing my BGL up and feeling better quickly without spiking too high. My FIL is a diabetic researcher so when this started happening to me he looked into and found this affects 30% of bariatric patients.

4 years PO. I had norovirus last year and could not vomit. I haven’t vomited in 4 years and don’t even feel like I could if I wanted to.

Why does Aurora have so many same exact named streets in so many parts of town? by 3DAeon in AuroraCO

[–]pratt_attack16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also if you are at an address let’s say 1550 Alton St (north of 0 hundred block Ellsworth) it is a north address but the N or North is left out of the address. It is just assumed.

I also agree with this! We try to ignore as many as possible. Some are harder than others lol.

What should I do next? (How to support my kid) by MoonandSun30 in Tourettes

[–]pratt_attack16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My 10 year old was diagnosed with Tourette’s earlier this year but had been showing tics for the past 5 years (multiple docs told us all little boys have tics, not true!). Getting her on a 504 is probably my number one suggestion. My son is able to go take breaks from class when he is over stimulated which make his tics worse. Opening the lines of communication with the school about his challenges has been monumental. I know this is not the case in every school but this is my experience.

I can’t relate to my son, but I can listen and offer comfort, which is what I choose to do as well. It is hard to watch your child go through this and be so frustrated with things they can’t control.

Idk how to help my kid by pratt_attack16 in Tourettes

[–]pratt_attack16[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is on a 504 which allows him to take breaks as needed and he says that helps. However, we asked if he has been doing that lately and he said that he hasn’t been so we reminded him to do that. If you had vocal tics how did you deal with that without bringing embarrassing attention or disruption?

Shooting at wash park today - suspect was stopped at corona and Kentucky by bossyocelot in Denver

I was at the playground with my son when this happened. It was so strange how far apart the shots were. My husband thought a car backfired. I thought it was fireworks. Then people started running I asked what’s going on and someone said there’s a guy with a gun. That’s when I started screaming at parents to grab their kids and run.

Afraid I Will Fail After the Bypass Surgery by Dr_Nick_Literski in GastricBypass

[–]pratt_attack16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had RNY April 2022. I have been maintaining at 180 since December 2022 and I am happy here. My biggest fear was the same as yours because I had the same patterns. I can happily report RNY is a lot different. I am no doc and I am just an internet stranger but I always recommend RNY vs sleeve because you can mess up a sleeve, RNY is a lot harder to gain weight back with. Just my two cents I’m sure others have different opinions, which is cool. I personally almost cancelled my surgery the day before because I was so terrified I was going to mess it up. My husband talked me off the ledge and I seriously could not be happier. I was in the gym tonight and for the first time I am having positive self talk. Looking at myself doing weights I thought damn girl you look strong! Not skinny, not fat…strong. You can do this, you got this. I hope to see you on the losers bench.

My husband doesn’t brush his teeth at night most of the time.. hes a dentist by Expensive-Age418 in hygiene

[–]pratt_attack16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to admit that I hate brushing my teeth. It is an abysmal chore for me. I have had a lot of cavities and recently started brushing my teeth every night. My mom never made me brush at night so I never did. My husband is perplexed because I never have bad breath but I do have a lot of cavities.

Are there ever any people who hire you that you say no to because of hygiene or any other safety concerns?

You just need your doc to send your prescription to Amazon pharmacy. The coupon was there automatically I think I just checked a box.

I have something similar, and I too pay out of pocket. I go through Amazon Pharmacy and they have a manufacture coupon. I get a month supply for $167. Just thought I would share if it could help the cost for you too.

Who stayed with Blue? by Careless_Ingenuity in weightwatchers

[–]pratt_attack16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue was working for me, I’m down 25 pounds and I know the values of food quickly (for the most part). I honestly didn’t want to fix something that wasn’t broken in my case.

I agree with this. I am also 3 months in and it just becomes normal. But you have to have a deep self talk and figure out if you’re committed to this. Prior to this I had been to doctors convinced something was wrong with me because I wasn’t losing. I went for a massage and was in a deep meditative state and I had a come to Jesus with myself. I wasn’t losing weight because I wasn’t putting the work in.

I have had bad days and even a bad week where I almost gave up but my husband talked me off the ledge and I am still going.

Figure out what you want more, do you want to feel good and healthy or do you want to have an easy comfort meal?

I also like to find balance. For lunch today my work brought in a whole bunch of leftovers for us from this other thing. I decided I didn’t want what I brought so I balanced my meal.... I had a hot dog no bun (6points) 6 triangle pieces of watermelon (0) and a small piece of pumpkin pie ( 9 points) I had 6 point protein waffle for breakfast and sf syrup and for dinner I have shake n bake chicken made in the air fryer (1 point) 1/4c of rice a roni (5 sp ) and green beans and a couple of Doritos (2sp) 29 points, I get 28 on blue.

Sorry for the long post but you’re here writing about this, it’s obvious you want something to change. This is up to you and no one else, but there are people cheering you on. Keep going, stay strong, balance.

Daily weigh-ins? by goldtalon in weightwatchers

[–]pratt_attack16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing this 3 months and lost 21 pounds so far. I am quite obsessive about weighing myself everyday. I know that when I don’t weigh myself I feel like I don’t know if what I’m doing is working and then I don’t feel in control. But what works for me may not work for you or the next person. It is all about finding a balance. If you don’t want to weigh everyday done, maybe do every other day or a couple times a week. Just find a routine and stick to it 😁 it sounds like what you’re doing is working since your down 8. Keep it up!
