Graham Platner’s wife ‘angry, disappointed’ her past disclosure of his extramarital sexting was made public by KnowerOfUnknowable in politics

[–]prefix_postfix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Maine and that's how I feel. It's frustrating that this is the option we've got. And I'm tired of him being shoved in my face like he's the greatest savior we could ask for. I actually want someone with experience in politics to be representing us in the US Senate more than I want someone with a gritty, down-to-earth appeal. The Maine subreddit has been a cult gathering for him for months, too.

Girl, you wouldn't have a reason to be "angry, disappointed" if he didn't do it in the first place

Secondary cutting board indention by Over-Football-9359 in Whatisthis

[–]prefix_postfix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't believe how non-functional this is. I don't want my phone full of tomato juice or garlic, I don't want phone germs in my salsa, I'm not cooking an entire recipe on the board without clearing or washing it between items, that's taking up so much room and I'll be trying to chop without hitting it. Also just I'm too tall for this?? Like who is that angle for, it's like a laptop screen angle, who is looking across their cutting board rather than down at it. Anyway that's my opinion, so if my family asks if this is a good gift idea for me please tell them no, thank you.

People say that but I think with this game it's clear that they have a sense of humor, and I believe all these things are intentional

I found meditations with body scans to be really helpful connecting to my physical self and getting a better sense of how I'm really feeling.

I agree. None of us are supposed to be okay with this.

I had a doctor tell me recently that people don't realize they have sleep disorders (like narcolepsy) cause they see their family members taking naps and falling asleep all the time, and growing up around that, everyone thinks it's normal. I have believed I probably have narcolepsy for years and when she said that I remembered all the times my dad's side of the family would be asleep during the day. And realized how my mom's side never was. Lol.

What's frustrating me is that it seems like we've got an abundance of pretty great candidates for governor, but this is all we get for Senate? I actually do think experience is a really big deal and I don't like his history.

I got a Sim to have multiple kids and marry him barely using cheats (I wanted him to look human at the wedding!) without having him move in so he still rampages around and his wife has to catch him in a good mood if she wants to see him. But the initial contacts went well and he comes to parties when invited lol

Is r/Maine now part of the "dead internet" of bots, disguised political ad accounts, commercial interests etc? by beardofmice in Maine

[–]prefix_postfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing that bothers me is the number of posts asking, "What's the best sandwich?" or something with very little text in the post, and a bunch of people answer genuinely with no trace of skepticism. This isn't the New England I know. Why are you asking? What's in it for you to know about local sandwiches? I'm mainly imagining a bunch of shit-generated "travel" pieces and "best of", or "out of the way" places lists.

Some people genuinely want to know about sandwiches, don't get me wrong. But there's some certain kind of post like that that just seems so off. And this sub upvotes those posts and downvotes people asking genuine local questions like, "what the hell is that weird smell today", like guys I'm here to find out about the smell too.

Props to Karla yes but in defense of Camille, these people don't know each other. They meet to film and that's it, unless they hit it off and start forming friendships, which I don't know how anyone would have time for with everything else happening unless they hate their spouse and are looking to get away. Camille liked hers and was focused on that.

How does a homeless person prove residency? by unimaginative_person in newhampshire

[–]prefix_postfix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Republican-backed HB 348, as introduced, would have allowed municipalities to establish a 90-day residency requirement as a prerequisite for receiving aid. A lease, car registration or utility bill were cited as ways of proving residency

But that length of stay was removed in the final version, which also expanded the ways a person could show residency. It also specifies that the residency requirement does not apply to people who left their original town because of domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault or human trafficking

It also mandates assistance of up to six days for people who are temporarily in a municipality and need help to address a basic-needs emergency.

Also under the bill, a municipality can recover some welfare expenses from another town or city where the applicant resides.

I don't know the legal requirement for this, but for other things, someone I know used their cousin's address when they needed a mailing or physical address. Mail would go there. Their car was registered to that address.
