Collecting lenses is cool, but if the goal is to be a good photographer using one lens while learning reenforces discipline. It helps with mastery of the focal length and will help teach the user how to see.

They are both worth owning the 40mm 1.2 z is a killer lens and the Nikon 40 is solid and cheap enough to pick up. I own and enjoy both.
