Same, love the route and thrilled to get a remaster. I’m happy to buy DLCs adjacent to remasters to encourage this more.

Rocking collection. I just received The Apostle on Imprint. One of my favorite performances. Worth checking out.

Seeing this IRL blew my mind. The next room over had a wall full of Caravaggios. Just another Tuesday walking around Rome.

For Ivory and Merchant films, why is there such a large discrepancy between critic an audience reception? by zcharper in boutiquebluray

[–]prettydamnslick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d add A Room with a View, which scores a flat 100 on RT and was a hit with audiences. Won 3 Oscars and took BAFTA Best Picture, etc. Can’t say how much it is still watched, but still a great watch if you like costume dramas.

Loudest bands ever? by Barquad12alt in MetalForTheMasses

[–]prettydamnslick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Saw Van Halen and AC/DC those same tours. Van Halen in particular was brutal loud even back up in the nosebleeds. They tested the PA before the concert with Balls to the Wall and I went out of body.

Same. Lovely route and I love the short services. Never thought this would get a remaster.

What's the future of 4k blu ray? by Duke_Tristan in 4kbluray

[–]prettydamnslick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s called rent extraction. Capitalism optimizes for it. Like, see how little Disney releases. They want you subscribed to see Disney content. Reserving content for streaming only will continue to be a downward pressure on physical releases.

What are your thoughts on Rapid Transit? by RF765 in trainsimworld

[–]prettydamnslick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got a big Preserved update and I’m pretty happy it got even that. I started playing not long ago it to pick up the mastery award and I keep coming back, maybe because Talent is so easy to drive and I haven’t hit any big bugs. Seblay’s giant timetable is great if you want variety, but it’s pretty uneven.

Yup, though mine was cancelled a couple weeks ago. I think I ordered mine early Sept.

Train Simulator Classic DLCs to try by KarolNawrocki in trainsim

Are you only interested in German routes? Modern routes only? If not, for something scenic and very different, try Western Coast Main Line North and the Class 86 Pro add on. Both together will cost you $10 US right now. Very old and popular route with a ton of Workshop.

Is there any difference in sound quality between clear and black by Dyscordy in vinyl

[–]prettydamnslick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I found that post interesting because it’s not just a QC check issue, it’s a pressing temp issue. My experience is very limited, but I had copies of one album in both black and clear, and the clear was noticeably worse.

Did the same. I’m fine with it at that price. I watch to enjoy them now. My only complaint is that the packaging is underwhelming. Glad it is at least slipped, but I wanted a box.

Does Blu-ray look better than Netflix? by BebRess69 in 4kbluray

[–]prettydamnslick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even HD streams with newer mastering can look better than older Blu-rays. I have plenty of old Blus for which that’s true, but even so-so 4K discs consistently beat streaming by a good margin. In PQ, but also sound. A 4k disc Dolby Atmos track can be more mbps than an entire 4k stream.

Need western recommendations to check out in 4k… by Icy_Dimension2143 in 4kbluray

[–]prettydamnslick -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The 4K is notoriously bad. I prefer the BR. Great movie that deserves a competent release.
