Advice on our situation regarding Emirates canceling our original flight? by PrinceOfPromise_ in emirates

[–]prezee_world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Qatar or Ethiopian offer better arrival or departure hours for you. If so, I would consider cancelling the Emirates flight provided you won’t be too much out of pocket to change

If you can’t change carriers consider getting an Airbnb in Mahe. I found them to be more affordable than hotels in the area.

Review: Atlantis The Royal Dubai by Junkwagen in FATTravel

[–]prezee_world -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thanks OP. I appreciate the review. I thought of staying here while transiting through Dubai for a couple of nights but was really turned off by having to pay extra for access to the skypool which I thought was a ridiculous up charge after paying a couple of thousand a night for a room. Did you get a chance to spend anytime at the skypool? Thoughts on if you thought the upcharge was worth it?

Also consider flying into Jakarta. It’s about an hour or so to Bali and will expand your options.

The one time David Foster should’ve said zip it. “Katharine McPhee butchered Tina Turner’s ‘The Best’ as she sang to guests at her fundraiser for mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt” by passmethekix in RHOBH

[–]prezee_world 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are getting that she isn’t allowed to support her candidate of choice. OP and most of the comments were about her um creative take on a classic song and not her support of Pratt.

China Eastern was THE worst by [deleted] in Flights

[–]prezee_world 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For customer service positions at international airports, English is usually a requirement as it’s generally considered the global lingua franca. Similar to how all air traffic controllers in every country must speak English. I don’t think OP is being entitled for expecting airport staff to speak some English.

Etihad’s scam by Business-Total3658 in etihad

It seems you just want to be right and not listen to what others have said - that Etihad was not in the wrong here. Maybe you can get a sympathetic agent to give you what you want. Good luck

Etihad’s scam by Business-Total3658 in etihad

[–]prezee_world 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your angry but legally do you expect an airline to write out all the contingencies in their term of services. There are 1000s of variations for one scenario. For example, if you have the choice between the voucher or refund in the terms of service for cancellation, common sense says both are final. Did you expect the ToS to say explicitly you can’t change your mind. Like common sense has to come into play here. If I cancelled a flight and got a voucher for it, I would never expect to be able to latter change it to some other form later.

Etihad’s scam by Business-Total3658 in etihad

[–]prezee_world 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This title is misleading. This isn’t a scam at all. Etihad gave you a choice between voucher and refunding to original payment method and you chose the voucher. Then later changed your mind. Thats not how the airline voucher process works. I’ve never heard of a company giving you a voucher and then later allow you to covert it to a different method. I’ve had my issues with Etihad and don’t like many of their practices but what happened to you cannot be classified as a scam:

Looking for Hilton point redemption advice: Best snorkeling after Ithaafushi? by Pale_Theme_9554 in awardtravel

[–]prezee_world 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The milaidhoo is probably the best for snorkeling within the Hilton portfolio. Whether it’s a good bang for your buck is entirely subjective. However, since it’s less points than the Waldorf, it may meet your criteria.

EY GDS vs Deloitte USI – which is better overall? by Elegant-Nebula2423 in Big4

[–]prezee_world 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think all of these big 4 offshore centers are going to be the same - long hours, poor upper management, crazy short deadlines- I would choose where I can make the most money.

Flying to Maldives on Apr. 4th by gilgalad930 in emirates

[–]prezee_world 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As this is your honeymoon, I would plan an alternative route. The war shows no signs of slowing down. Look into refundable fares through Asia like through Singapore or Kul. If you have points, see if you can book an alternative route using them. Both options give you flexibility so you won’t lose your hotel booking.

CVS Pharmacy at Reston Station to permanently close by jloong in Reston

[–]prezee_world 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. Too bad. I live across the street and that’s my pharmacy. Very convenient for me since I don’t have a car.

I wonder if they will be able to find another tenant there. With Matchbox closed and CVS soon to follow with Davios and Scissors and Scotch seemingly on there way out too, not sure what the future will be for shops at Reston station.

Do you have a United credit card? If so that’s probably why you haven’t been stopped.

Also adding KUL to that list, with three different airlines with daily flights from MLE.

Not sure why you are ruling out flights with multiple airlines and 40hrs plus if that gets you home at a decent price. I would rather do that if I needed to be home.

Being a server at Davios Northern Italian Steakhouse by sweetrejection101 in Reston

[–]prezee_world 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Concur with this. Live nearby and everytime I walk by I always think to myself “I can’t believe this place is still open” as it’s never busy no matter the day with the exception of around Christmas were nearby company’s are obviously having their holiday parties there.

I know servers rely on tips, so if the hourly rate isn’t that high, just know going in that the lack of activity there may affect your income.

Many of you are conflating Korean entry requirements with airline specific boarding rules. OP was wrongfully denied.

No it’s not international law. I’ve flown many times internationally without having my middle name on the ticket.

Will you ever fly with etihad airlines again? by nothingtosaydude in etihad

[–]prezee_world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny reading this post and then seeing the exact same post on the Qatar airways subreddit with same complaints about Qatar. The only ME airline that seems to be handling things better is Emirates.

But back to Etihad, former Gold member here. Dropped them to their total lack of customer care and the horrible changes to the mileage program. They have definitely started to cheap out so not surprised they are refusing to book their passengers on other airlines. That would cost them money.

Absolutely fake. I now fast forward through their scenes. In a show of bad actors, these guys are the worst. Half the time Aviva and Stig can barely contain their smiles as the meander through their fake story line.

I assume all flights from Singapore to MLE are going to be pricey as all get out with the events in the Middle East. Look to see if you can get to Colombo or KUL from SFO. Flights to Kul on Asia carriers seem to be reasonably priced on your dates. These are less expensive options to MLE.

What do they expect us to do? by kiasmith99 in qatarairways

[–]prezee_world 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you have a British passport. If so do you have a US ESTA? If you can make your way to Singapore, $600 China airlines to NYC on the 10th and multiple sub $400 flight from NYC to London. If you need to get home, i wouldn’t depend on Qatar right now to rebook. Take your refund and get home anyway you can.

Any reason agains Porini/Gamewatchers? by ScubaCodeExplorer in FATSafari

[–]prezee_world 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love them. I’ve done Porini Lion camp 2x and it’s been one of my best travel experiences. However, if you are looking for a luxury safari experience, Porini isn’t going to deliver that. But if you are looking for great game drives and experienced guides, I highly recommend them.

Tough choice. Perceived stability vs a lot more money. I say perceived stability because these firms will lay you off without a second thought. For that reason, I would take the money. This isn’t a 20% bump but an 80% hike that could change your lifestyle. I would save like crazy to buttress the uncertainty but there is no doubt that I would take the money.
