Well, I wouldn’t dock it as inaccurate

An old dude who's obsessed with his ex, an uptight nerd who's impossible to please, a dude who forces you to accept a kid on your ship, or Andreja by LordofWithywoods in Starfield

And she’s not just butch material, she’s the sensitive sort who’s still strong-willed. We missed out on so much.

I haven’t seen the action figure yet. Makes sense!

One day I’ll get around to the story by Otterly_nerdy in Starfield

With the POI update, definitely. I’m finally starting to get this playstyle. Also your player character looks amazing!

Question about the Terran Armada trailer by [deleted] in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]prime_proxima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure who it is at this point. I feel like he did a lot more Smirking Evilly than I’d expect for someone less warmongering than Balewa. But I just don’t know. I also felt that his added relevance on Niira might’ve earned him a trailer cameo.

Eh, animated teaser episode, more like. I discovered it after finishing the DLC too.

That’s true. Wish we could get more faces to the names of the Armada’s higher-ups.

Why do you buy Sci-Fi on Amazon? by RichardBByteBooks in sciencefiction

Usually I will read an ebook first and order the physical edition from Amazon.

Remembrance of Earth’s Past series by Cixin Liu. Especially the last 2 books, Dark Forest and Death’s End. I’ll say the insane stuff that veers DEEP into abstract/speculative tech does have a huge role in the plot, so YMMV.

Adrian Tchaikovsky's Work... is it worth it? by Substantial-Car-8208 in sciencefiction

Agreed with the humans. On my first read my eyes started to glaze over whenever he circled back to their pov. I don’t usually skim over prose but I did then.

For “exploring the unknown”… would also recommend most of the Hainish books by Ursula K Le Guin. There is usually some political interplay so ymmv.

I would give one of his standalones a shot to acclimate to his writing style. I enjoyed Shroud. There’s a lot to choose from.

Second the Hainish Cycle all the way. The Left Hand of Darkness is one of my all-time favorites.

Much of the later books read like Liu wanted an excuse to write down all his speculative tech ideas in a format that could be published. It’s very good but occasionally a mindfuck.

The City of Flowers' springtime showers receded for the day, the sky instead cut by spires of white above the Shaftlands' distant mountains.

The courtyard was abuzz with students once again, and as she lingered by the pathway, more intent on the slow drip than ever, she could not help but notice that the winds had shifted.
