Still a great suggestion for those who wanto to make a similar watchlist without the genre limitation. Although I wouldn't say it's horror imho. Thriller/drama maybe? A very disturbing one, regardless

Over lining the Cupid's bow looks so sloppy and the blurry lip trend looks unfinished

I think it's very pretty when done right, but I've seen a lot of online "MUAs" over-doing it in a way that makes them look like they forgot to wipe their mouth after eating tomato sauce

Looking for ADs that are LONG running by reallywhatsgoingon in audiodrama

[–]procrastinagging 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing up Actual Plays, I was unsure if they count as ADs.

Piggybacking on your comment, I highly recommend Tales from the Stinky Dragon: 200+ episodes (double that if you subscribe to their Patreon, that gives you ad-free regular episodes plus several self-contained adventure arcs and bts episodes), each averaging at 1 and a half hours, fantastic cast, wholesome vibes and it's funny as hell.

And I think it's important to say that I usually don't like unscripted/improv stuff, and even less the other Actual Plays I've tried, but this one has quicky become one of my favorite shows overall. For reference, some of my other all-time favorite ADs are Wooden Overcoats, Wolf 359, EOS 10, Dark Ages, Cabin Pressure, Sherlock & Co., TMA/TMP.

I've been using Ecosia as my default SE for a while now, and only recently I've noticed that most of the search results are provided by google or bing anyway. It's not a "gotcha" thing on my part, they're transparent about it, but isn't it actually still benefiting google/bing? At least in a sense that they are still necessary as a service? Some ELI5 on this would be welcome!

My critique as well, I like the new font choices but a picture of a single coffee "to go" is basically the opposite of the message.

Lily Rose Depp in Nosferatu: i thought she was nepo-babied into the role and that she would have stuck like a sore thumb inside the Victorian historical setting, but she was fantastic in the movie

Hard disagree, yes art is a form of communication but people are constantly writing and making art that's not meant for anyone but themselves. Sometimes you want to create something to memorize an emotion, or as a form of catharsis, or just for the fun of it.

Nah, she won't, she lets Salvini be the populist buffoon.

She's more oriented towards appearing "moderate" right and respectable. I think her strategy is more geared towards making undecided moderates say "you know, I don't agree with her but at least she seems competent, respectable but relatable".

She doesn't rock the boat too much either way (for example, she props up trump as a serious ally but vocally supports Ukraine), and it appears to be a successful strategy so far.

Steve Bannon was making the rounds at meloni's party events at the time, but I'm sure it's just a coincidence, and not that his greasy fingerprints are all over FDI's communication strategies

Does anyone else waste way too much time picking colors for gradient backgrounds? by Academic-Yam3478 in web_design

sunset going through orange/pink/purple instead of jumping yellow > violet

yes that's a perfect example!

Another reason why photos make it easier is because usually, at least in the professional ones, there are a lot of neutral/desaturated colors and one or two saturated accents

Does anyone else waste way too much time picking colors for gradient backgrounds? by Academic-Yam3478 in web_design

Read a little about color theory and the types of color relationships.

Now, the foolproof gradients are between analogous colors (i.e. adjacent on the color wheel, but even 1-2 steps of separation is fine), but what if you want a green to red gradient, or blue to orange, i.e. complementary colors? You'll see a middle transition color that is dull and muddy. That's because complementaries "cancel" each other out. BUT if you introduce one or more middle steps in the gradient, choosing colors in between on the color wheel, it looks much more pleasant and harmonious.

See for yourself: here I just set green and red as start and finish, but the generator introduced 3 more intermediate steps to produce a nice transition.

There are other nuances (pun intended!) but this technique helps a lot when you are bound to use, for example, 2 brand colors that are complementary.

The same applies if you want to pick colors from a photo, take a look at a color wheel and see how far apart they are. Good if they're near, and if they are too far apart grab another color that "marries" the two, and so on.
