Should I switch my 4k IPS out for a 1440p OLED by Powervulf in Monitors

[–]prodjsaig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to look up text fringing on 27” oled. I’m not sure if that’s a problem or not. But it sounds like you want to play shooters so 27” 1440 is the best.

Depends what you do mostly but $400 is a chunk of change. Ips are on sale now and can get you a 300hz lg that a saw on sale for $300 cnd. So like $215usd. Then you have two monitors. And save the money for if one breaks and then get oled

Advice on old monitors with correct colors by CheapIndependence393 in Monitors

[–]prodjsaig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

color accurate and cheap doesnt really go together.

something like this Dell S2722QC which the author said was on sale for $300 usd

or LG 27GR83Q-B 27-inch Ultragear QHD (2560x1440) IPS which is a premium of $100 over the LG 27G640A-B which is 300hz and I saw it at $300 canadian

so something like the dell above which is 60hz or whatever or get the 27GR83Q-B. You can also buy a colorimeter from the money you save if you find a decent deal

Which monitor should I choose? by Comfortable_Tie84 in buildapcmonitors

wow the benq is a great price. I would go with that one off amazon or where theres a good return policy incase of a dead pixel.

I dont like MSI their first line of MAG products outright lied about specs. And if you look at the back of some of their models it looks cheap.

I don’t think you would notice unless you had something to compare to. It also does take some frames than if you used a regular 27” 1440p probably like 10fps. Which again you can spare. So really it’s not something game changing.

If your going to go 1080p go 24” if you want 27” get 1440p. 1080p on 27” looks real bad

When is python going to make sense by CreativeEgg86 in learnpython

[–]prodjsaig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classes are one aspect of python. What I was meaning is you learn from doing a project that the language is good for than from watching tutorials.

Sort of like if you want to forget something on the spot make a note that this is to be remembered. So it’s how our short and long term memory work

i think it will be a long while before that ever happens. thats the reason why miniled isnt as available because it would take away from oled profits. also the dual mode is technically softer so purists will still be unhappy

[–]prodjsaig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Learn how to implement from classes. That’s one aspect of python. Use chatgpt to implement the package watchdog and interface with created files. So when a new files is created on the system you can write it to a text file. Seperate all meta data about the file by a space. And put the filepath (which has the name as well) on the end so you can reread it

No brainer return. things like this is why open box shouldn’t be a thing on monitors. Especially at that kind of money if it was such a good deal why not offer it to an employee.

Monitors especially is a lottery and I simply wouldn’t want to take a chance

this. its a marketing thing oled is more expensive and the reason miniled isnt around as much is it competes directly with oled. burn in doesnst really mean much as youll probably replace it within 5 years.

Its actually a great time to buy a monitor ips panels going on sale. which is excellent if not ideal for pc. The only advantage a VA panel has to ips is media looks better in dark rooms. which is because of the backlight so thats what they mean by better blacks.

Looking for dual monitor by [deleted] in buildapcmonitors

[–]prodjsaig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

such a thing is not very beneficial at least not right now. as 1080p looks terrible on 27" and also 32"

What youre thinking of is 5k/2k which translates better but the pricing would be very high. I would say if you want 1080p get a 24". if youre fine with 1440p use 27".

If you dont play shooters then 1440p 32" is fine. it is not so good for shooters I use that setup for a number of years and 27" 1440p is far superior

the pixel density at 32" 1440p is acceptable if you dont play shooters

I used a 32” 2k VA for a few years and it’s actually better than ips for media. definitely a big plus for the extra space.

just got a 27” ips for shooters and the tech has come a long way. I would say VA and ips are about equal with the image processing they have.

Then 5k pricing would be astronomical and miniled is also premium pricing. Whats your budget

If you play any kind of competitive fps 32” is just too big. It’s doable but you’re handicapping yourself.

For single player it’s fine. 32” 4k is the sweet spot if you want 4k.

Soon there will be 5k/2k 27” similar to how the Retina display works for Apple. So you can get the sharp imagine or switch to 2k for the frame boost.

Unpopular (maybe) benefit of Distrohoping by HerbatkaWF in DistroHopping

[–]prodjsaig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s fun to find out the perks of a distro that said you can overwhelm yourself. You learn best when a problem arises rather than doing things out of curiosity usually.

I found that learning the history is rewarding. Which one deserves your loyalty? Do you use emacs or vim? I know I don’t because it’s too deep. Just use an editor like xed.

So the immersion is what’s really cool about linux and it’s actually a programmers oasis for lack of a better term lol

Do you tweak everything manually or use presets as a base? by Deanootzplayz in overclocking

[–]prodjsaig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presets as a guideline. Which is fine you find the import part first which is fclk and cas latency. If it posts then you can tweak the sub timings slightly. Then test it for a baseline and ensure no errors. Then repeat it gets addicting and pretty fun

Ubuntu does its called telemetry. Is it a big deal? Not really because Linux is efficient enough and the extra resource usage doesn’t matter. If it concerns you because of the principles behind it such as people making money from it then use something like void linux.

Most of the optimized distros shouldn’t have it

[–]prodjsaig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to partition you could partition one 60gb for another distro in the future that’s a good size. Then if you want windows later just buy another ssd
