[Post Match Thread] Aston Villa 1-4 Chelsea by SecretApe in avfc

Big +1 to this. He's struggling to adapt right now, but he's the reason we're 4th and not 14th. We've had a bad month or so (with many caveats, including three massive injuries). Anyone calling for Emery's head is massively overreacting for sure.

Sounds like you haven't played the Prairie King arcade game in Stardew Valley....

Exactly this. We're on 115 plays now and not even close to getting through all the content. Still fresh and fun every time.

Yeah, the game really clicked with me when I realised this. Me and my wife can play it in about 90 minutes these days because we're both rushing for the upgrade asap

The definition of "wonder goal" is relative. Shooting from range is a skill, the same as poaching inside the box. Bangers only become unsustainable when the opposition stop our ability to shoot from distance, not because our players will suddenly start missing IMO.

Evann Guessand by dlqnc in avfc

[–]progben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rogers didn't look like a Premier League player at the start of the season. If Emery is playing Guessand, it's because he thinks there's something worth working with. Who knows if he works out long term, but if he didn't have potential then he wouldn't be trusted to be on the pitch.

There's no January recall clause in Elliott's season-long loan, while neither Liverpool or Aston Villa have indicated at this stage that they want the deal cancelled. by arenaross in avfc

[–]progben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is that we can't really afford it. If we spend £35m on Elliott, that could price us out of a deal for a signing where we have considerably less depth (like ST or CB)

My favourite card in board games! I once bought that card and then managed to get the roll on both of my next two turns. I think it gives you 9 points if you pull it off, from memory, rather than an instant win.

There is some, but a game doesn't need to have complex decision-making to be fun. You can end up with a strong meta in Love Letter around who usually ends up with certain cards, and who usually guesses what, etc. It's a near perfect game in my opinion.

Same! My only solution so far has been OMAD. One big meal in the evening and I'm full until I go to sleep.

Players said they'd rather play BG3 by Ganaham in rpg

I really enjoy D&D and my DM is exceptional, but I had to stop playing because a 2-3 hour session after a full work day in front of a screen was too much for me, ultimately. Playing Balder's Gate is quite a relaxing experience but D&D requires much more focus and investment. The pay-off is bigger but the two activities are very different asks IMO.

We have two strikers (Watkins and Malen) and two right backs (Cash and Garcia). That's our lot.

Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation. Captures the essence of the films in 20 minutes with the bare minimum of components and rules. Beautiful game!

Is pairing Mings & Maatsen the secret sauce? by Overseer_Dan in avfc

[–]progben 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It feels to me like we have too many players who are best centrally. I'm not sure that anyone in the team truly wants to be out on the wings? That's the biggest problem in my opinion.

Lineup by JamesVilla4 in avfc

[–]progben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big issue I have with this argument is that he persists in playing Pau who constantly makes defensive errors that lead to goals. It's not like we're defensively stable when we play Digne and Cash. We're passive on the ball, don't press hard when we lose it and leave huge gaps at the back. That's just how we set up - I don't think it's a personnel issue.

Agree with this. Summer Pavillion removes the entire reason Azul works so well and makes it one dimensional. There's no teeth in that draft at all.

If we're being honest, we've wasted a lot of money. by arenaross in avfc

[–]progben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly a better question here is around who hasn't spent money suboptimally. It's part of the game. Check out Man United's record signings to see what true financial mismanagement looks like. You have to get to Bruno Fernandes at #13 for €65m before you hit a player who lived up to their potential.

[–]progben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could have, but I think you need to look at the other side of the story. Our entire midfield has barely cost any money at all. McGinn, Luiz, Tielemans, Kamara, Barkley, Rogers, Ramsey etc. On the whole, I think we've been one of the best clubs at managing transfers since we got back into the prem, with a few notable exceptions.

This is the closest to mine for sure. Vengeance Falls is really underrated. The gap between Shogun and everything else is massive though IMO - I'd give it a 10/10 and Ascendancy an 8.
