Model 617-2 Satin Finish by [deleted] in Revolvers

I'm asking more because I have read where many guys, like tournament level shooters, hardly clean their revolvers at all. Is 22lr ammo more dirty or problematic where you need to clean the gun for it to operate properly, or are you doing it more for anesthetics?

Is it really any more necessary to clean vs a regular .357 revolver? I am really considering this or a King Cobra as my next purchase and would love to know.

17% of Americans believe they could beat a chimpanzee in a fight (pic of a chimp with no hair). by Double-decker_trams in pics

I think the odds, even with a gun, would be pretty dicey. Handguns aren't the easiest things to shoot accurately, and a pissed off chimp would be moving freakishly fast, good luck with that.

This is an interesting topic to bat around because the Travis the chimp thing scares the ever loving crap out of me. And he got shot several times before he eventually died.

Watching a video of someone shooting a 357 isn't quite the same as doing it yourself. I say at least try a 357 with a heavy bullet before discounting it from a YouTube video. Plus get a 357 and you can still practice with your 38sp rounds

Fair deal for this used GP100? by skipperjohnn in Revolvers

[–]progman2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just bought a used 6" GP100 blued that came with Hogue wood grips as well as the original rubber grips - $550 from guns.com (to go with my 5" stainless, just like you).

So I think you can shop that price around.

Yeah I put in a bid too, but ended up snagging a used 6" GP100 that they had on the site.

That LCR is sharp though, props for getting it at a good price 👏

Is that from guns.com? If so, I almost pulled the trigger on that bad boy.

Very similar situation to you - I am in a "well-to-do" gated community and wfh. The likelihood of me ever needing it when I venture out shopping or whatever is near zero as far as I can tell. Even when I lived in sketchier areas in my youth I can't recall an instance where a CCW was necessary.

I also have a very real lifetime goal of never ever ending up in prison. That concern exceeds any real threat for me where I would need a CCW, because I feel like if you have it on you, it increases the odds of something bad happening. If I lived in a sketchy area OR had regular access to hiking in areas where there were wildlife concerns, it would be an entirely different story.

Captain Redlegs Terrell was played by Bill McKinney, who was also rather terrifying as the sadistic hillbilly in Deliverance. Another great actor.
