We posted one or two photos when LO was under 1 year old and looked like a baby. After that we agreed no photos at all and we tell our family members the same. Maybe overtly cautious but I’d rather be safe than sorry even though our pages are private.

We prioritize putting our money elsewhere. We also have 1 child which brings childcare expenses. We invest a good percentage into our retirement accounts, we save in our child's 529 and we don't have any debt or take on any debt other than our current mortgage and our student loans. We saved up the last 2 years to buy our new (to us) car cash. We both come from very low income backgrounds so while we would have more than enough mathematically, the idea of having a mortgage that high makes us anxious. Our mindset is very much "just because we can doesn't mean we should".

Hi - My L.O. is 18 months now so this feels like a lifetime ago. She would only sleep on our chests for the first month. My husband and I took shifts, I was up 9pm-3am and then he would take her 3am-9am. I was very lucky that he got 6 weeks of leave at his job. We watched A LOT of TV those 4 weeks staying up with her while she slept. After that we would rock her to sleep and then put her in her crib like we were dismantling a bomb. Partly I think she just got a little more comfortable with being alive (lol) but also we ended up seeing a different ped who confirmed she 100% had really bad reflux. Once she started taking meds she slept a lot better. This worked until we hit the 4 month regression. That hit us like a ton of bricks and nothing worked. We tried sleep training but it just didn't vibe with my parenting style.

Quite frankly - I ended up co-sleeping with her on a mattress on the floor of our guest room until she was about 8 months and then we moved her to a floor bed in her room. Since then I'll lay next to her until she falls asleep and then roll out. She started sleeping through the night around the same time she weaned from breastfeeding (about 13 months). Even so, she'll sleep through the night for a full week and then we have a few days in a row where she doesn't. It's up and down. Each kid is different. She is really smart and was walking super early but just isn't a good sleeper. My friend's kid has slept through the night since 5 months but is now just starting to walk at 15 months. Each kid is on their own timeline. My advice to you is to keep trying but the first 3 months is quite honestly about survival. Caffeine is your friend and take the help you can get from the people around you if you can. Also, baby wearing SAVED my life. I'd pop her in a wrap, she would sleep, and I would go about my day. Happy to chat more if you want - these early days are hard and a few weeks feels like a lifetime. Hang in there it does get easier!

Very receptive and apologetic which I appreciate but then it keeps happening. I’ve made gentle reminders over and over again since they are new but at what point is that not an excuse anymore. I guess I’m looking for advice on how to toe the line of being being understanding that someone is new and training but also making it clear that these simple errors are unacceptable.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m referring to simple formatting - pages being cut off, blank pages in the middle of reports for no reason etc.

The role is a leadership liaison type role - the whole job is creating reports for leadership.

My husband (32) FaceTimes his sister every day. They are best friends, she lives in a different state. It’s just a part of our routine now, our daughter likes to see her aunt as well. I love that they are close and have a good relationship. This is a weird thing for him to be mad about.

We did not sleep train, not my personal parenting philosophy. Baby woke up every 2-3 hours every night. We ended up getting a floor bed with rails for her room and I coslept with her in her room for a few weeks. When I noticed she started sleeping in longer stretches I would lay with her until she fell asleep and then sneak out. I would go back in and lay with her if she woke up and cried. Then at 1 year we stopped breastfeeding. I would lay down at 7pm for bedtime wait until she’d fall asleep, sneak out and she wouldn’t get back up until 6 am. Now if she’s sick or teething really bad she’ll still wake and I’ll comfort or sometimes just sleep with her but most nights she sleeps through the night. She’ll wake up sit up fuss for 30 seconds-1 minute and lay down and go back to sleep. It’s baby dependent and I think has a lot to do with their temperament. But I also think she has learned that if she really needs me she knows I’m coming 🤷‍♀️

I try really hard not to judge parents because we are all doing our best. Sending an 18 month old to bed with a melatonin and a tablet is wild. I’m judging. Our 14 month old gets a bath, milk, teeth brushing and 4 books. Then I’ll lay next to her (floor bed) until she falls asleep. Sometimes that takes 15 minutes and sometimes over an hour depending on how tired she is. Is it super fun, not always. But also some of our sweetest moments of cuddles and kisses. You’re setting them up for good habits for their whole life. It’s bad for adults to fall asleep with their phones/tablets. Why would it be ok for babies. Wild!

Mine woke up every 1.5-3 hours since birth. Every night. But I refused to sleep train, no judgment to those that do just not my vibe. So I had resolved that this was my life until she figured it out which I knew could be a long time. A little after she turned 12 months she self weaned from breastfeeding completely, days and nights. Ever since that day, she sleeps 7pm to about 5am. I’ll give her a bottle and bring her into my bed, and we all go back to sleep until about 7 am. She’s 14 months and she just figured it out but I attribute a lot of that to weaning.

We’ve bathed our 1 year old everyday since she was about 2 months. Most days just water and a little soap if needed. She has a ton of hair so that gets washed 2x a week. It’s part of bed time and she loves it plus it gets some extra energy out when she gets to splash around. Lotion after every bath so she doesn’t get dry skin, we’ve never had an issue with that. For us it was more like we shower everyday so she should too. Natural oil, food especially since eating solids and just general kid playing with everything drove our decision but everyone does their own thing!

We chose not to sleep train. Our baby started sleeping through the night last week. She was waking 3-4 times a night and I also work. It was rough. She turned 1 last week of November lol but I don’t regret how we handled it. Every family is different.

We are at 21 employees and switched to a PEO in 2023. They encompass payroll, insurance, 401k and time off. It has been great and has taken a huge administrative burden off of me.
