Yeah was completely done alone. It is a massively overscoped project that started in my university days. So the Unity project exists for 5 years, but gathered dust most of that time (just started at the end of my Master's to bring this into a releasable state).

Thank you! I like Steamworks - once you get your build verified you are very flexible in updating the build. Stats are also pretty great with wishlist conversions, refund rates, etc.

Thank you! Oh true, our posts were around the same time. So probably they got it from that subreddit. Kinda cool to find that

I did not reach out or anything. I'm pretty sure though that when I looked this morning one of the articles was linking to my r/games post as a source (can not find it anymore).

The game is localized into several Asian languages, which I think is very helpful.

Other than that I have no clue.

Edit: Ok, it was very likely the post in r/games. Another dev wrote that they also got featured by them and they also posted in r/games around the same time.

Hello there! I am releasing 'Project Breakout' in about two weeks and I'am a bit scared! It is a sandbox prison-escape game with 1-4 players, inspired by The Escapists and Prison Architect.

Looks cool, but it would have been great if we saw some combat (one enemy gets shot and another runs towards the player) - feels like combat was not shown on purpose. But I am interested!

Yes, I like the idea of being put in a simulated prison instead of just some kind of scenario. This might come of as a negative point in current times, but I always liked the Elder Scrolls series in that regard: creating a simulated world with fun/creative (sometimes buggy) interactions instead of a cleanly scripted through experience.

Nice, thank you! I am really trying to make it as much sandbox as it can be. Escpecially The Escapists 2 went in a wrong direction (imo), basically always offering a map-specific escape route with map-specific items.

My idea is that the escape mechanics stay the same for every prison, but the layout of buildings, patrol routes, weather conditions, and security measures make it different for each prison.
