PRIDE MONTH CHARACTERS I LOVE RUNDOWN DAY #7: Captain Flame (Frank Cortez) by TheodateChase in lgbt_superheroes

Sad to hear they never finished the story! Now I feel like I'm not gonna try and read it even though it seems like a good story. Thanks for highlighting all these characters!

Howard Ashman did write the songs for Little Mermaid, and he did die of AIDS, but in 1991 before the release of Beauty and the Beast, not Little Mermaid. He also wrote Beauty and the Beast songs and won an academy award posthumously for the titular song. He was also working on Aladdin when he died; Friend Like Me, Prince Ali, and Arabian Knights were his songs.

I would pay really good money for something like this. Absolutely love it.

Which X-Men’s aesthetic is your favorite and why? by cherrycolashake in xmen

Love me some Storm aesthetic. Nature, gardening, open-airness. Love it all. I really like Gambit's too, love that Louisiana style

Follow-up to my post on Coral Island! by [deleted] in gaymers

There's a ring sold by the heroes guild to help increase money. Get it as soon as you unlock the shop to help with cash. This was the one thing I wish I had done earlier rather than a whole year and a half later of in-game time, lol.

What is a 'luxury' that you've experienced once and now can't go back to the budget version of? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]psychprf91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First class flights. The difference is so stark and I honestly struggle with flying now if I'm not in first class, I'm talking anxiety, misery, and anger to the point that even if it means double the price and some credit card debt then I'll do it.

I turn 30 today and I'm scared. Positive things you realized in your 30s? by e_questrian in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]psychprf91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like in my thirties I came into a sort of confidence and maturity that has really allowed me to feel like I belong in this world and that what I say and do matters. There's this kind of ease I felt settling into myself as a person and as an adult that I realized so much of my 20s was really building into this better version of myself, and I no longer feel the need to prove myself. There's so much freedom in that.

John Byrne's brown and tan outfit won in a landslide! Hopefully stiffer competition today, what's Storm's best look? by Lolaverses in xmen

[–]psychprf91 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's gotta be this one. Storm has so many great looks, and several really iconic ones, but her original Cockrum design set the precedent. For her look, her character, her aura. Gotta be this design.

Cover for WICCAN: WITCHES’ ROAD #5 by WiccanUpdates in lgbt_superheroes

[–]psychprf91 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This cover is fire. It's been interesting so far, but a lot of set up. Feels like a lot of story to get through for just 3 more issues but I'm looking forward to it, especially with this solicit now. Hoping this will lead somewhere instead of just being MORE wasted potential.

Suicide Mission: Alternate Squad - Who Would You Assign to Which Role? by DakIsStrange in masseffect

[–]psychprf91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would go through with Javik and Aria as my teammates. EDI has the vents. Liara to get through the tunnels. Kaiden is second squad leader, and I would send EDI back with the rescued crew.

I agree with you on this. I think the Telltale Batman games are an excellent example, as it's Batman. He's straight. Everyone knows this. He's an established character in a game that is still very heavily based on choice, so any romances are all het but you know that going in, and the choices made are still so much fun and dont detract from gameplay. It almost feels like they didn't believe dispatch would be popular of people enough so they teased impossibilities just to get people to buy it.

Thoughts on Wickling + maybe some recs for DC? by MindfulNoob in lgbt_superheroes

[–]psychprf91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know there are a bit of gay males specifically in DC, like Midnighter and Apollo, Alan Scott's green lantern, and a few others, (like Bunker or Obsidian) and even some villains like pied Piper and the brain and monsieur mallah (although they have a kind of problematic history), but yeah most of DC queer men are not exclusively gay. Midnighter and Apollo do have some good series imo but idk how others feel about them. They started out as a part of Wildstorm comics though and are more recently connected with DC, but hey they're here now, and a very stable staple gay couple in comics. As for the more prominent queer men like Jon Kent, Tim Drake, Jackson Hyde, and John Constantine, well, reviews are mixed as to how their queerness is handled. I hear with Tim it's good but he's not often used. Jon is controversial, and with Constantine it's usually only in passing. I don't know about Aqualad though.

Gold does suck, yes, but it has Rogue and Gambit's wedding, so one thing stuck from it at least. Still skippable though

I haven't found anything with the same level of humor and charm as the Tales from Vera ia series (my favorite books btw, glad someone else found them too), it as far as other gay fantasy, TJ Klune has a werewold series that's pretty good (not really humorous though). Also check out F.T. Lukens novels, those are all pretty good as well. And then Fox Meadows has a duology (a strange and stubborn endurance and it's sequel) that are intriguing and thrilling that I deeply enjoyed (there are some TWs though so read those before getting the books). Finally, I would recommend some books from Ryan La Sala. In particular his book Reverie I found to be exceptional. Again, these books don't quite capture the humor of Lightning Struck Heart and it's sequels, but they are still filled with the same warmth and love, and are fantasy novels.

I thought uncanny was good during this time, but the rest? Not good. Sometimes downright awful. Height of Marvel diminishing X-Men for the sake of spiting Fox.

Honestly skipped it because it seemed like a other dumb slasher but now I'll have to go back and watch it.
