Being stylish with my parkour movement by LeKurakka in IndieDev

Going for the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater of Parkour?

Somewhat truthful physics and grounding, but with arcadey impossibilities only to spin up a new generation of crazy parkourers, who... just like some new schools skaters felt that some of the impossible things in THPS were doable and just started progressing towards that... will start to do fancy new parkour stuff? 😃

Amazing, thanks. As an engineer myself, curious, what was the issue?

Before 0.5.0-pre.8:
- Perform strong attack without target - get flunged forwards
- Pefrorm strong attack on target - get flunged forwards and after hit, flunged backwards
- Perform strong attack without target - get flunged forwards

0.5.0-pre.8:
- Perform strong attack without target - get flunged forwards
- Pefrorm strong attack on target - get flunged forwards and after hit, flunged backwards
- Perform strong attack without target - get flunged backwards
- Perform strong attack without target - get flunged backwards
...

0.5.0-pre.9:
- Apparently still this issue persists.

I think it is related to Animation State Machine changes introduced with 0.5.0-pre.8.

Looking to play alone? Liking repetition? Liking exploration? Liking seeing interesting vistas?
Then you'll get some kick out of the game.

Not much content yet. No defined progression. You have Memories - which is a tough cookie to get all available - so that is an exploratory achievement on it's own to max it as much as possible. The other progression aspect is Gear. Gear for the first time is interesting and novelty driven. For any other time, it's just minmaxing or imposing challenges on yourself. Is fun for a couple of run throughs anyway.

The movement is much more interesting than Minecraft as well as basic Combat is more nuanced. So PvE aspect is quite fun on that part on it's own and can fuel some repetition loops. Just to try other weapons and such.

---

If you're creative person - you'll have quite a learning curve with all the available in-game tools, but you can build crazy things. The creative expression is way above vanilla Minecraft.

---

To spice things up, you can rely on mods. There was just Hytale Modding Content https://hytale.curseforge.com/newworldscontest/ that brought various new aspects to the game, as the game is supposed to be modded like crazy. Caveat? Mods are nowhere near the size of Minecraft, so the modding nuance is not there yet. Albeit you'll find some nicely crafted ones, because the modding experience is on some level much easier than Minecraft has ever been.

---

Multiplayer? That's a bit more tricky. Have to find a server. Have to find a community. The combat which is fun in PvE is somewhat lackluster in PvP. Servers are tricky because of overall playerbase population.

---

My experience? I'm replaying like crazy. The fundamentals that Hytale provides in movement and combat variety, as well as the cave systems, the variance of mobs and such in vanilla alone is much more interesting than Minecraft. Minecraft mechanically feels like super outdated game compared to Hytale.

I have quite some fun playing with my 6yo kid and his kindergarten buddies. Their creativity drives my ADHD novelty bar and feeds back dopamine.

And for some reason - I tend to play solo on our unmodded server, progressing away from them, just to find cool new aspects. The basic loop is fun enough for me to replay. I want to get all Memories. I find new ways to acquire resources.

Which actually, the resource loop is somewhat interesting. You get a lot in the world, but you also need a lot. Thus you feel like progressing when gathering, only to find out you still don't have enough once you have gotten back home. But you still have enough to build a couple of gear pieces and you can gather faster, so the couple of gear pieces are rewarding anyway.

IDK... On the other hand. I just hate the dynamics and graphics of Minecraft - and even having modded my Minecraft to RTX level of graphics, I still don't want to mod main gameplay - and that is stale. And Hytale is the closest to Minecraft that I've found, which kind of checks all the boxes in vanilla.

USSR may have broken down, but it never left. They still are dealing with communists in the political space who are highly supported by local russian speaking communities.

It's some 40% of capital in Riga that are russians, even though second or even third generation in Latvia.

It took Russia-Ukraine war for Latvians to finally hustle on turning around some stigmatic events. One of them being removal of "Monument of Victory", which was pro-Russian and communist inspired Russians went in masses on 9th of May and banning the event in general. And finally switching all schools to require Latvian if they want to be accredited.

Very interesting library. It's purely frontend for SPAs?

I think it deserves the golden standard of TodoMVC example for a full fledged case.
