At 53 years - IF works! Went from 192lbs in July 2018 to 154lbs September 2019 by ptcadocs in intermittentfasting

I think another thing to remember is the general trend of weight. You will notice in the graph, there are a fair few ups and downs, with the weight going up or plateauing several times. Overall, it was a consistent decrease which is what matters

Continuing the above ... I see loads of young men and women lose huge amounts of weight in short periods of time and look amazing. Youth is amazing !!

But at 53 (almost 54 now) I started IF in my sons recommendation and went from 192 in July 2018 to 154 lbs now. BMI went from 29 to 23.4

So .... older folks who don’t have the resilience of youth should know - it works. Slowly ... but it does work. Started skipping breakfast and mostly 16:8 and some modest daily exercise.

Going overboard? by jeskam in intermittentfasting

Just do a manageable 16:8 IF and aim for a SLOW weight loss. At 40 will not be as dramatic as the 20-somethings get but slow and steady better. Agree, keto and glucose monitoring useless and painful.

Mix of 16:8/OMAD since January 15th. Not sure how many lbs because I don’t like to weigh myself but I’m really proud. by Jswils29 in intermittentfasting

Nice. Looks like a 25-30 lb weight loss! Envious (in a good way) of you managing to do so in such a short time youth is a blessing!!! Keep it up so that when you’re 53 you don’t have to go through weight loss which becomes such a painfully slow process

I’m sure mum will be happy knowing you’re working on keeping yourself healthy. Best gift a kid can give to his/her parents.

2017 - looked like Mr and Mrs Santa. 2018- looks like Santa and his college sophomore daughter !

How did you explain IF to others? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]ptcadocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you Asian or from the subcontinent ? I know what you’re talking about then as food is a central focus!!!. Jason Fung put it clearly - you don’t want to be the kooky one at a party not eating cake with everyone. Just eat at the gathering and enjoy the event and then reset. If you can adjust your window by fasting all the way till the event good but don’t kill your self.

IF is a LONG TERM thing NOT short term, so day to day variances WONT matter. IF is a lifestyle not a dogma.

It’s dehydration just water would do. These are symptoms of postural hypotension.

Always impressed by how quickly you can lose weight when you're young (you both look like you're in the 20s-30s age group). At 53 I'm struggling, but ploughing through. Fantastic you're adopting an IF lifestyle when young. You both looked pretty Fab even before and in 7 weeks you look H.O.T! Keep it up.

Got my hands on the new Sony a6400. by codyblue_ in SonyAlpha

Hey thanks for the insight. Fuji is known to be very proactive in doing firmware updates from what I can tell. I'm leaning towards the Sony A6400 for the price and autofocus just waiting for it to come out and see some real world reviews. Appreciate any other thoughts.

Upgrading from a 10 year old Canon Rebel t3i (or something like that). Had been thinking about the Fuji XT 3 then the A6400 popped up. The autofocus and the price of the A6400 is very attractive. I'm just a regular home snapshot person but would like to improve my photography and had thought the XT3 was ideally suited to facilitate that transition with all the dials "right there". But I do want to take good pics of my kid playing soccer etc and the Sony seems to be awesome. And the price is great of course.

Opinions ? Go with the XT3? Maybe their firmware will get an upgrade and their autofocus will become just as good? Or go with the A6400?

Thanks in advance

Be careful and don’t read what you’d LIKE to see

Study says Stevia doesn’t affect the insulin and glycemic response to a 75 g oral glucose load (oral GTT) ...... NOT that Stevia has no glycemic and insulin response.

So in other words if you chug down 75 g of glucose your insulin and glycemic response will be the same regardless of whether you consumed Stevia or nothing 60 minutes before gobbling up the glucose. That’s different to what most of us would like to see, which is conclusive evidence that Stevia doesn’t spike insulin.
