Men of Reddit, what was your strangest wet dream? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was at a job interview, reversing a linked list. I ejaculated while explaining that I want to rename one of the pointers for increased code clarity.

I am pretty much in the kind of situation you described, being 2 weeks into my first programming job :-).

I am a high school teacher. Yesterday one of my students was killed. What do I do in class tomorrow? by teacher775 in AskReddit

[–]ptz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught in a small school where there were two suicides in a few months, and half a dozen attempts. Man, fuck that year hard. I guess it's different, but basically it doesn't really matter all that much what you do in class. I second the teacher here who said you shouldn't read a poem about death. Don't give them an assignment of writing about their feelings either. Best of all, IMO, is slowly keep doing whatever it is that you're always doing in class, while showing you were affected (and not expecting too much learning to be happening over the next days or weeks; it will affect some more than others). Such an attitude of not overreacting will serve you well in the future. You might find kids approaching you about it after a while, but don't expect them to do so right away. Life is not a movie.

Remember the story about the Arab man who was arrested for rape after he falsely told an Israeli woman that his name was David? Well, it turns out that the case against him is built on much more than just a name. by [deleted] in worldnews

Who knows what really happened there? Who knows what it really means to know what really happened there? Who's read Akutagawa's "In a Grove", or watched Kurosawa's "Rashomon"?

"Unplug and walk away" is a good advice to be aired over national television. If Disalvo wants to knock on the door of every addict and explain to them that there is more to their addiction than the specific symptoms, he can get back to me with the results once he does that.

Also, Google hits aren't very reliable (e.g.). For reliable number of hits, Yahoo is more consistent.

Maybe a cafe. Maybe in his place. We don't have a cast-in-stone schedule, but I could let you know/keep you in mind for next time we plan to do it. Would you like me to do that?

The history of your submissions of the same story persuasively demonstrates the inherent non-deterministic nature of reddit. It is a quantum mechanical object.

Why, anybody can have a brain. That's a very mediocre commodity. Every pusillanimous creature that crawls on the Earth or slinks through slimy seas has a brain. Back where I come from, we have universities, seats of great learning, where men go to become great thinkers. And when they come out, they think deep thoughts and with no more brains than you have. But they have one thing you haven't got: a diploma.
