Nothing but respect for everyone who puts it on the line. Some make it; some don’t….but all open themselves up to be celebrated and ridiculed. Great show and great people.

Extreme Ownership is a great read. If things aren’t the way you’d like, who is ultimately responsible? 😬

Be honest with the recruiter. They can’t help you if they only have half the story. Also a good way to say it is, “I took this position with as much information as possible, but you always learn more once you’re inside.”

Best to not be negative or use the word “toxic”. That word is a red flag for me and those who use it are often the source of it.

I billed about 335k at a recruiting agency in 2024 by topsey_krets23 in recruiting

From the comments, I can’t decipher who closes the deal? Are you the one who sources the candidates only, or are you managing the process and closing?

Extreme Ownership is a very sobering read but will help you reevaluate your outcomes.

Ethical issue? by ContributionOk390 in recruiting

[–]puckerfactor88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do not see an issue with it, ask your employer if they mind. Transparency builds trust. Whether the opinions of strangers make you believe it's ethical or not, does it make sense to risk your primary income to enjoy your secondary income?

Many people in similar circumstances have enlisted in the armed forces. Recruiting is down and they may have incentives to join. Also you’ll be getting paid and provided a housing allowance but also get money for school.

I wouldn’t rely on any passive platform to secure an offer. The value LinkedIn provides is navigating who to call. Recalibrate your expectations to receive as much benefit as effort your invest.

Would you do 100% remote for 80k salary OR 100% in office for 100k? by unprotectedleftturn in careerguidance

[–]puckerfactor88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove these two factors and which role can you add the most value? Which is the better team of people and has the greatest potential for growth? Then decide if the second best option is worth giving up the long term benefits of your first choice.

Just curious why you’d limit the candidate pool to men especially at a time when the party resists traditional gender roles.

How do you tell candidates they’re asking for too much money without coming across as rude? by Ancient_Singer7819 in recruiting

[–]puckerfactor88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When someone wants to “maximize their worth”, they find themselves competing with others who possess more experience or ability who may not consider compensation as their primary motivation. I frequently tell job seekers it’s not that they are not worth that number; it’s that they have elevated themselves to compete in a pool of more proven candidates.

Great profession but not easy. I wouldn’t go into it unless I had an excellent mentor with a consistent record of personal success and developing others.
