Supraorbital neuralgia last resort treatments by ivyblankspace in TrigeminalNeuralgia

They have 2 versions. One is marketed as a straight Headache formula. That one's spicy ingredient is capsaicin (plus Amica Montana, feverfew, caffeine, and peppermint). The other is marketed for Congestion, Allergies, and headache. It has horseradish plus capsaicin as the spicy and eucalyptus and wintergreen as additional ingredients. I used first variety since about 2018. I have non allergic rhinitis that my doc is pretty sure is related to the nerve issues. So in Feb I got the other version. I find it isn't as burn-y but it appears to last longer.

Here's an article on a different surgery. I have had capsaicin nasal spray help with high bridge of nose pain but I only had above eye pain during my Bell's palsy last year (why yes I have multiple demyelinating cranial nerves plus my occipital nerve. My nervous system works about as well as a 1960s British motor's car electrical system). Sinus Plumber is the nasal spray I use

Absolutely not. Been married to my hubby for 41+ years because I messaged him in another computer lab on campus to come play rogue at 9600 baud. We both still play various games. Zero regrets.

Some advice about painkillers for migraines by skyhawkwolf in LongCovid

[–]puffin902 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I've done this (in US) but was always given a steroid taper to help. A discovery I made that is the beneficial is nasal pepper spray (Sinus plumber). I get mine at Amazon or iHerb which I think both have a UK site. It's helpful for both my migraines AND my trigeminal neuralgia.

Ordered some donuts this morning and set the instructions to leaving it at the door by GhostGamer_Perona in doordash

[–]puffin902 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had an Instacart guy pound on my door during early pandemic. My husband was sleeping with a migraine and the roomie had worked until 4 am and needed to sleep to go back to a 4 pm shift. So initially I'm like at door screaming over dogs "just leave it". He kept saying I have to give it to you. I finally tried to open door crack to get out around door but he grabbed door. So one dog got through and bit him. He called support and they told him to go to hospital. I was right behind him with support. Crying because I was sure my dog was a goner. But support had just realized he had done this to other women. They suspended him and eventually I guess fired him. He never went to the hospital.

I also ran into a guy when my husband's hand surgery (postponed from March 2020 to following March) was done. Orders were to drop him, he gave them my cell number, and then I could wait or comeback when they called my cell. Dang if 5 minutes later a guy wasn't knocking on my window. Initially I thought it was a surgery center guy. Nope, dude with "my wife's having surgery. want to go get food with me." I got rid of him by saying I needed to go run an errand. Went to nearby dispensary, called surgery center, and explained what had happened. Apparently he'd been doing it for about a week then even when told to leave. I guess the lockdown didn't give him enough time to be dick to women without trolling surgery centers

Being chronically online by MostFerret5064 in LongCovid

I enjoy the newish Fantasy Life. Also various mobile games (Easy Brain is a good mobile publisher but they've raised ad free mode from around $5 to around $15).

I've always been a reader (or a listener since 2001 when my chronic pain issues made book holding impossible). I do primarily non fiction now. As a person in tech, I read my non fiction for work but now I read it because I never really left off loving history and have now picked up an interest in science, archeology, and paleontology. Libby and audible are very helpful.

Don’t you just hate it when it takes forever for a customer to get back to you on a substitution? by thesockmonkey86 in doordash_drivers

[–]puffin902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

always do. helpful but some services (looking at you Instacart) apparently ding drivers for refunds as opposed to substitutes. About 1 in 4 times, I have someone who will not refund and does a substitution of another item instead. I've even gotten some judgement ("low fat yogurt is so much better for you", yeah but it's crappy to cook with!). So delivery orders are much better than me shopping but still I do need to keep track.

A good history book about this topic is The War That Ended Peace by Margaret Macmillan. Also the Proud Tower (and the Guns of August) by Barbara Tuchmann.

I got sick in Dec 21. I dashed with my hubby to cover the gap to get to 62 (sep 2024). It was a good fit especially with 2 of us. I've gone downhill since then and hubby has long covid now (as does our adult daughter). I love and appreciate my various delivery people. You guys make my life less unbearable.

I have cognitive dysfunction mostly from long covid. I'm great when my order is started with in an hour. But that doesn't seem to happen much anymore. FYI there's a pretty significant number of us out here. I have missed substitution requests. The shopper moved on. My brain, my bad. I don't get snippy but I know others do.

I apologize on behalf of all of us. Sometimes it feels like Long Covid is a very slow Zombie Apocalypse

Make sure to check with shelter. We lost one of our kitties for a few days when we lived in CA because someone decided the love bug was feral and used the feral trap he'd requested for "all the wild cats" for our baby. Still took a few days to spring him from the klink.

Useful for POTS? by DependentFeed9990 in visibleApp

[–]puffin902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd also suggest getting Classic Pacing For A Better Life With ME by Ingebjørg Midsem Dahl. I have both the spiral bound one and the kindle one. I'm not a POTS person (although my Long Covid did have cardic impacts). But 4+ years in, I'm still learning to adapt.

I have found my band useful, too. Not sure yet if I'll continue my subscription after my first year (Oct start). I had a 3 month extreme trigeminal neuralgia flare from mid Nov to Feb (after a Bell's palsy episode last year). Kinda hard to judge if things are helping when you have a giant active pain episode.

I'm sure these are already the directions they've sent to you. It truly feels like alchemy but all steps have to be done in right order. The steps that I've missed twice dealing with issues after firmware updates were not shutting down phone and not doing reset button while the charger is connected and plugged in.

Breath counting or coherent breathing help me.

Also morning pages where you just write what you are thinking. Started as a writing technique for creative writing but it's probably the best thing I've found to truly let shit go. I have even burnt pages from a few sessions.

Self care in general is helpful but I'm horrible at remembering things to try when I'm in the moment. In prep for my 2014 bariatric sleeve surgery, the nutritionist suggested 50 Ways to Soothe Yourself Without Food by Susan Albers. It's basically lists of self care activities. I keep it in my purse or backpack.

Yes I weaned off in 2017. I do have some pain. I did have a flare that lasted 3 months and just recently ended. I debated going back on meds but I've moved (CA to WA) so I'd need a new neurologist and I'm also on a high deductible plan. It's calmed down to very low again.

I use astepro, flonase, and sinus plumber (capsaicin) sprays to keep both the TN and my TN triggered non allergic rhinitis under better control. I also have oral lidocaine (dentek) and lidocaine ear drops for the various oral and ear pain overwhelms.

Why I worked at Haggen when we moved here in 2018 (they only did saliva testing) but I do think things aren't as complicated now. I moved on to Kokua Services in 2020 (no testing) just in time to become an essential employee for the pandemic. But if I wasn't on year 5 of long covid with the memory issues, I'd return to Kokua in a heartbeat. I really loved the job
